now thats a 60's rock guitar sound. You can tell that NFB disconnected it sounds much thicker

I removed the redundant polarity wiring and used the stock polarity switch for stock or no negative feedback switching options. These are awesome sounding amps.

@@keithb7 damn right man! Id love to own one.. on the look out :) So simple circuitwise but a very distinct sound, I prefer this to a Marshall OD

Bad ass.if u plan on doing this you can get a sm57 mic . It will do you justice for recording

Thanks. The purpose of the video was to make a quick sound clip of the cabilities of a cranked Bassman. I think I achieved that. I agree a SM57 would do wonders for the recording quality. I actually do own an SM57. I just don't have the desire or time to invest in making high quality demo recordings. Just a quick simple iphone video gets the point across. It's quick, easy to upload and done. Sorry I just don't have the time to sync a higher quality mic'd sound clip with video. Cheers. - K

Its the great sound ... ! Looking for marshall jTM 45 sound, and landed listening all the time to Bassmans 1964-65 !!! :) ITS THE SAME THING !
@MrDaveFerrier6 жыл бұрын
Pretty much! I prefer these though even.. less 'tight' in the bass perhaps but I think the tones are better/more complex

@@MrDaveFerrier Agreed. What does a vintage '64 Marshall head sell for? This Bassman head can be had for $1000 USD, often less. Hell of buy for a killer amp.

Also how does this head compare to the 1965 or 1966 Bassman head, what are the differences? Thanks.

Great sound! I just finished rebuilding my Bassman to AA864 spec. I don't get near that level of crunch and bite diming the Normal channel with a Les Paul. Is the main difference the removal of the NFB loop, or are there other mods as well? I may consider some thing like an NFB switch, or perhaps a pot to vary the amount of feedback.
@keithb75 жыл бұрын
The amp circuit is stock specs except of the Negative Feedback mod. I removed the polarity switch and installed a regular on/off old style Carlson switch there. Looks stock still. Easily reversible if needed. A simple mod. Tubes and bias may also make a difference in your breakup. My guitar is straight into the amp in this demo. No pedals of any type used.

Prob those particular speakers helping that crunch and sizzle too….

@@nickmaybes true, they're probably noticably less efficient than modern speakers, resulting in less headroom

How loud is that in the room? Just loud or PAINFULLY loud?

I had ear plugs in and ear muffs over top. LOL. Way too loud for most live venues these days.

Why would the negative feedback be disconnected and what exactly is that and what does that do? How closely related to D120F speakers is the K120, what is the important differences? This is with no pedals at all? What watts is this head? OK.. how closely related is this Bassman head to the Bandmaster head right there with it? What are the main differences in tone, etc? Say for example if you run them and use the same speakers, what is the sound differences? Can you do a video that compares both heads using the same speaker cab? That would be some real good information. Thanks.

Lots of questions. Sorry I can't answer them all here. I suggest you do some searches on Google to learn more. Negative Feedback, I custom wired it so it was switchable. This is not a stock factory option. This head is 40W, all tube. The Bassman has a larger output transformer than the Bandmaster. This generally gives the Bassman more bottom end bass tones. This is indeed with no pedals at all.

@@keithb7 I ask because I actually want to learn and know for real. Dont try to shut me down and dumb me down, not going to happen! NO dont say to google every damn thing! Surely people have some knowledge left in their own heads and memories. Google is too much of a crutch these days, the Homer Simpsoning of America. Google does not answer a lot of direct specific questions! If you know something tell us all about it on here. They sure as hell dont know at Guitar Center. Where are the people that know things anymore?

@@michaelcraig9449 I spent years of my own time reading and learning and doing my research and putting the time in.
