Sorry if this is offensive but those old Mack's ruled the roads for decades. Real truck drivers drove them. Today's candy ass truck drivers couldn't hack it. I'm not saying creature comforts and modern technology don't have their pluses. But they also have their drawbacks. Like working on them.

@@williamdavidson9009 lol, I didn’t know that. I always thought they were gold for pure mack and silver if you had any different drivetrain. The best one I ever saw was one bulldog being mounted by another on this tricked out B-61! lol Them B-61’s are like a 57 Chevy to me. First trucks I ever rode in with my dad shifting the five and four. Used to pull big loads for the little maxodyne power plants. Lots of gears ⚙️ made up for the lack of power. Them were the days

Just a quick comment on the title of your video. The Thermodyne badge on the side of the engine hood refers to the engine type, not the truck model 😊.

I’m confused. Even numbers designated a gas engine and yet it is wearing a thermodynne badge. I thought the thermodyne was the diesel preceding the maxidyne. Also what does the second 2 designate?

@DMTruckSpotting 3 жыл бұрын
I've found a ton of Macks that have been engine swapped or designated with the wrong engine. This truck looks like it would be a B422S, which is a Six Wheel Truck. The regular B42 had an EN 402 engine, and the B421 had an EN 401 Engine. The B422 had an EN 438.

Wow, looks like a very heavy duty truck for having a gas engine, i wonder what kind of trasmision does it has and what kind of loads was she able to move. Great truck by the way, congrats!!

Back in the way old days big rigs only had about 91 to 130 horsepower. They had triplex and quadruplex transmissions and 2 speed rear axles. Essentially they had 3-4 transmissions to allow for a fuckton of gear ratio's and sometimes had two speed rear axles to double that. 30-70+ gears were not uncommon. In the absence of horsepower you can make up for that with having a shit ton of gear ratio's. These trucks had between 3 and 8 levers coming up through the floor, and a engine vacuum powered pneumatic switch to shift the two speed rear axles gears.

@@smh9902 cool, thanks!!! Ah!! The good por days!!!! I've never seen a gas powered truck whit a nos trasmision, except 2 speed rear end, i can imagine how fun it used to be shifthing all day Long. Maybe it was not a job for every people except for a very skilled operators, now se have power stearing, a/c, strogn modern engines mated whit a bit trasmitions, etc, etc, Thanks for sharing

It sounds like a diesel when it pulls away, and yet even numbers are gas and odds are diesels. So, is it a diesel? Isn’t thermodynamics also a diesel flag?
