Sorry if this is offensive but those old Mack's ruled the roads for decades. Real truck drivers drove them. Today's candy ass truck drivers couldn't hack it. I'm not saying creature comforts and modern technology don't have their pluses. But they also have their drawbacks. Like working on them.

I’m confused. Even numbers designated a gas engine and yet it is wearing a thermodynne badge. I thought the thermodyne was the diesel preceding the maxidyne. Also what does the second 2 designate?
@DMTruckSpotting3 жыл бұрын
I've found a ton of Macks that have been engine swapped or designated with the wrong engine. This truck looks like it would be a B422S, which is a Six Wheel Truck. The regular B42 had an EN 402 engine, and the B421 had an EN 401 Engine. The B422 had an EN 438.

@smh99023 жыл бұрын
Back in the way old days big rigs only had about 91 to 130 horsepower. They had triplex and quadruplex transmissions and 2 speed rear axles. Essentially they had 3-4 transmissions to allow for a fuckton of gear ratio's and sometimes had two speed rear axles to double that. 30-70+ gears were not uncommon. In the absence of horsepower you can make up for that with having a shit ton of gear ratio's. These trucks had between 3 and 8 levers coming up through the floor, and a engine vacuum powered pneumatic switch to shift the two speed rear axles gears.
