Strangely satisfying, Matt...I really like the way this stuff conforms to the body work/panels......Need some of this stuff and looking at their web page there are other things that I could be utilising for different issues...

Great job mate, one query tho. the rubber bungs in the floor, are they now no longer required because of the silent coat blanking the holes?

Do more sound proofing as you've got a load. Some where your feet are, boot floor and parcel shelf.

I am sure I mentioned it before Matt but if you fit the 998 that would make it a 'Cooper' and they had the 'Remote' gearshift (which also made the engine more stable in the car). These were fitted to 3 synchro gearboxes in Cooper and 'S' models from '61 and the later 4 synchro boxes from '68. Add value make it a Cooper. If you still have those 7.5" discs ...

No disrespect 1chish but it would not be a Cooper it would be an Austin Mini with a 998 engine...too many minis out there being sold as Coopers but are fakes...only cars that left the factory as coopers should bear the sacred name IMHO

Hi Chris. Think remote is for 67 / 1275. And only 7 inch discs. But need to check nbrs as maybe can be converted. Ps did get your loom email sorry not replied yet

@@rogdad - So no disrespect but tell me how you define a factory 'Cooper' then? Chassis Number? Originals were of the range: C-A2S7 486096-1068160 and they can be stamped from blanks. Same with engine numbers which were all '9FA etc' or '99H'. Not that I was suggesting any forging of numbers but how do you as the expert tell its a fake? If a car has the right specification and equipment .....? My simple point was that the 998 engine and the 7" discs were the basis for the Cooper (not 'S'). Matt has both. Although the 7.5" were also fitted. The car also has the oval centre console fitted to Coopers although I don't know about the 100 MPH speedo although it is black. Bottom line is I just throw in suggestions and Matt does as he chooses. It isn't my car and I am not suggesting any wrongdoing. If I think I can help him I will ...

@@MattGreenWorks No worries about the email - whenever no worries. As regards the gearshifts I have some hard copy books here to which I referred so hard to 'link' here! While I don't often trust American views the guys at 'MiniMania' are pretty keen and know their stuff. This piece is accurate and summarises well what I have read elsewhere (and copied in my earlier post) and in hard print: www.minimania.com/How_do_I_know_which_transmission_my_Mini_has Yes the Cooper did have the 7" discs as standard but I remember at the garage I worked at in the early '70s we were always changing the 7" discs and the standard drums for 7.5". Its like Hydrolastic - Coopers were the first to have it but it was binned the minute they came out of Warranty. I have typed up some detail from one of my reference guides: * Twin HS2 Carburettors These may have been removed by a previous owner. * Hardy-Spicer inner universal driveshaft joints. * Disc brakes (7 inch for Cooper or 7.5 inch for Cooper S.) Note that it was common for disc brakes to be upgraded to 'S' specification. * Strengthened steering arms (thicker than standard Mini steering arms.) * Positive Crankcase Ventilation system with a valve sited on top of the intake manifold on 1965-69 cars. * Hydrolastic suspension (post-'63.) This is often removed to improve handling, or because hydrolastic displacers are no longer available. Deluxe Mk1 Minis shared the hydrolastic suspension for a time. * Electric fuel pump, sited in the rear subframe. * 3-in-1 exhaust manifold. * 100MPH speedometer
