Great car. I owned a 1963 Valiant Signet. I really liked it. My Dad and I drove it from Seattle to Phoenix when it had way over 100,000 miles. It performed very well, no problems. They just don't make them like this anymore. I can't stand the expensive pathetic junk they make now a days.

Great looking. Nice trip back in time. Ah yes the good ole slant six served it's purpose. I also liked the mopar 318 motor. The 318 was good for 2-300,000 miles 👍

I know it's an old video now, but even though the legendary Slant Six had a handful of variants: 170, 198, 225, and 265 (Australia). Those were not horsepower ratings, that's the displacement in cubic inches. The engine in this car, which could be either the 170, or 225, and a single barrel carburetor; did not make 170 hp. Growing up, my parents had a '64 Valiant like this one, white exterior with the same bright red interior, four door, Three In The Tree manual, 225 Slant Six. It served us very well for the 10 years we had it.

I had one just like this car with the Slant six. It was pretty damn reliable.

We had these in Australia, not as Plymouths though. We called this one AP5 Valiant. It only came in the 4 door model sadly. Different taillights. V8 was not an option on this model. Car must have been warm. Normally takes 7 pumps to get it going. LOL.

Why would anyone go to the trouble of making a video of a gorgeous car like this (especially one you are trying to sell) and not spend 2 cents on lube for the hinges???

I want to speak on the durability of the Slant Six motor when I was a young teenager I worked in my fathers filling station and a fellow came in and wanted his valve cover gasket changed and oil changed so I pulled the cover first and to my surprise the top of the head, rockers all looked like a Jello mold in the high school cafeteria (Took a while with a scraper and a brush and solvent) I asked the guy what kind of oil he wanted he said a certain brand that started with a "P" I also asked when was the last time he had the oil changed and this was the first. in I'm going to guess 5 years just adding oil to the original break in oil, . Oh yeah nice car sorry to high jack.

I am curious as to what price the car eventually sold for.

Must likely had to pay someone to take it off his hands, stripped down Valiant with a a 170 six.

My first car - a ‘64 Valiant Slant 6; 3-on-a-tree - not nearly as nice as this one. Mine looked to have been hand painted (with a brush) and had an after-market AM radio that got only one station: 24 hour news. Got it for $519 in Aug ‘71. Drove it until April ‘73 when I bought a brand new Corolla.

are these push button auto's able to be converted to say a column shift auto or on the floor? if so how much would something like that cost? from Australia here and possibly getting a Valiant that's push button - although I'm inclined to keep it all original but just thought what it would involve and final cost at completion..

That's a revolutionary system that's now the "new" thing on new cars
@staffcarpenborg4 жыл бұрын
yeh you're right Tebibyte.. this was a while back and even though the Wagon ('63 AP5 Slant) I'm getting is a rat it will definitely be staying as is with the push button system..

Conversion from push-button to column or floor mounted shift MUST be from a pre-1966 parts car. They made drastic changes to the tranny linkage in '66 (Australia might differ by a year).
@jonathanmorrisey57713 жыл бұрын
ALL you can use to convert to column shift would be a '65 A-body w/ column shift. 1966 was the change to rod style linkage vs the cable shift system.
