I really like the understated look of it. You're right the painted wheels and caps do make it look like a cop car.

It's always a little sad when they go to the scrap yard. I guess it makes the one's that are left worth a little more though. Thanks for watching Chief.

I don't think it was there when you went. They just got this one in the last couple of days. Thanks for checking it out!

I'm glad they've kept it mostly stock. I think they modified it just enough. Nothing wrong with adding a 4 spd automatic, disc brakes, and Air. You're right, it's been a while since I've seen a 326. Thanks for checking it out.

I might go back an take a look at that one. I don't have a video of it yet.

John D. really made Pontiac thrive. You are correct, it is really cool they stayed with the 326 in this one. You certainly don't see many of those around anymore.

It fell apart on the first hit....well, that's not much fun. I don't think this one has any rust issues to worry about. It sure is a slick car. Thanks for checking it out!

It definitely has the GTO look to it, just a little more understated. With it being lowered and riding on those steel wheels, I think it looks pretty tough.

I agree completely, a 4 spd automatic helps performance and makes a hot rod a lot easier to live with on the highway.
@SILVERHORSE34711 жыл бұрын
That would be an awesome cruiser with that overdrive.
@RamblinAround11 жыл бұрын
They are very similar transmissions. Both are four speed automatics with overdrive 4th gears. They have slightly different ratios...the 200r4's gears are 2.74, 1.57, 1.00,0.67 and the 700r4's are 3.06, 1.62, 1.00, 0.70. You can see the 700r4 has a slightly lower first gear and a little less overdrive in 4th. I think the 200r4 is a bit shorter, so it can go in place of a turbo 350 without shortening the driveshaft. The 200r4 was use in Buick GN's...so it's plenty strong.

Yeah, keeping Buick and getting rid of Pontiac seems ridiculous to me. Thanks for watching my friend.

Small bore and a long stroke gave it more torque than a 327 Chevy. Same size block all the way up to a 455 ci.

Very Cool Jeff! I don't know how you can be so calm in the toy store like that. God I would be ruining from car to car. Hehe. That is a really sweet looking Pontiac! I'm a huge Pontiac Fan. And I miss them so much. I still can't believe GM chose to keep BUICK because of the loyal Buick customers. Anyways. TY JEFF

I had worked all summer and saved every penny and bought my very first car (I say i bought it but I know my Dad probably paid more than I did), it was a very used '67 lemans with 3 on the floor, Maroon with black interior. i had tried to talk my dad into a '69 GTO with the 400/4 speed but he said no way it was too much car and too fast and too expensive. So I got the Lemans. It had a 326 4 barrel dual exhaust. After driving the car a bit me and my best friend started wondering why it was so fast...took the vin number to the dealer and discovered it was a "High Output" 326, after digging through shop manuals were figured out it had higher compression than the regular 326 and a bigger quadrajet carb and better flowing exhaust manifolds. It was a real sleeper...it wouldn't beat the really hot muscle cars but much to his embarrassment i smoked a buddy who had a '68 Mustang GT with a 390. After about 6 months with my Mom having stopped driving her 389 Catalina and dad about to sell it, I talked him into letting us pull the 389 and put it in my Lemans...after rustling up a 4 speed trans from the junk yard I had a makeshift GTO. Then with headers and intake and a big holley I had one of the faster cars in town.

Nice Pontiac Jeff. What's the difference between a 200R4 and a 700R4 transmission?
@markthompson90562 жыл бұрын
The 200r4 bell was the BOP ( Buick Olds Pontiac) engine bolt pattern. Gearing was more civil ratios than the Chevy 700r4. 200r4 overdrive ratio is 0.67. The 700r4 is 0.70. The 700r4 had a very low first gear 3.06 ratio great for take off performance. The 200r4 has a 2.74 first gear ratio.

I love the 200r4 mod. Any daily driver with a 3 speed automatic and a rear ratio with a 3 handle should have one. Three gears are not enough.
