1965 Chevrolet Impala SS Super Sport Console restoration touch up

In this video I explain what I used to repaint the colored textured section of a 65 Impala Super Sport Console. To each their own, but I found this paint and texture to my liking and recommend it to anyone who wants to make their console look original again. Thanks for viewing!

From past experience, make sure you keep attention to the rear light area on the rear of the console. It has two vlips that hold the light bulb for the rear floor. Those clips could touch the back wall area of the console. Put tape on the area to help insulate it. BTW, this car came with a option for opening beer bottles. At the time, that was not much of an concern not like today. The center square hole for the seat belt latch was the right size to open the beer bottle cap. Boy, thse engineers were guys after my own heart. haha

Thanks man im in middle of restoring mine right now im making my own base i never found one forsale and for some reason no one offers a reproduction yet. I am going to get some of the texture paint yours turned out awesome.

You’re welcome. No problem at all. Yes they’re very difficult to find in very good shape and most usually the base is always broken especially from the rear lower section. And thanks for the compliment on the texture paint. Appreciate that!

Does the slider have to be cut into to fit over the shifter?

No there shouldn’t be anything cut or sawed.

Hi .. How did you manage to remove the console.. I want to remove the clock..thx

Dave carroll, I bought this console already removed. But to remove the entire console, there are some screws that mount to the brackets on the floor board of the car. But to just access the clock, you can try to remove only the top section. The console is in 3 sections. You got the top bezel(which holds the SS emblem and clock), the lower bezel and the plastic base.

Your freaking camera cuts angles and can't let me see the entire console. Can you do another video with entire console showing because I my console missing parts and your camera is not showing those angles I need to look into.
