I found a 1965 Harmony Archtop in a shed. Background music track written, performed and recorded by me.

Nice barn find! And she's older than a '65 with that narrower "stubby" headstock with the broken letter stencil-type logo and no "STEEL REINFORCED NECK" above the nut -- do an image search for "1965 Harmony Archtone" to see what I mean. That one is late 40's to '59 or so, like mine. The top and back on yours are in great shape and it sounds really good, a bit fuller tone than mine I think -- she's probably really happy to be played again after who knows how long!

Oh wow! Thank you for the information! I will look more into it. I thought I saw 1965 stamped in the f hole but it was faded, and hard to read and very dusty. Ver excited to do a deeper dive. Might have to make another video!

Ok! So after a deeper dive with a slim flashlight to get in the f hole, what we thought was “1965” was part of the stamp that said “made in USA” the date code was S-56-T !

My first guitar was a 1969 painted binding Harmony for $37.50. I see the same thing now for $400 to 500. I can't understand the fascination with these junk pile guitars. Guitars don't all improve with age, but when "vintage" firewood is for sale I guess a sucker's born every minute 😮

@@ThomasGilmore-fi6gb junk guitar? yes, but they have legacy non the less. Many people started on these catalog guitars. And the antiques from a by gone era are always attractive in a modern disposable generation. No one repairs things anymore, they just replace them. People collect antique tools, antique kitchen wear, antique furniture etc because of its history, its aesthetic, and the romance of a more simple time. Sometimes there’s a romanticized idea of doing great things with humble items, like the blues players of the past

@@RhoadesGuitars I understand the idea of historical legacy and the way that these guitars made it possible for beginners, myself included, to latch on to their first instruments, but promoting the idea that they should be sought out and revered as something special among archtops doesn't seem fair.

I just got a 66 H1215 with a brown headstock like that and a paint job like a 1213 but the stamp says 1215. Super weird.
