I bought a brand new 1965 Triumph Bonneville and someone screwed up at the factory because mine came with the TT front forks and TT pipes but the rest was just a streetable 650 Triumph Bonneville. The color was Blue and Grey. My Dad sold it when I got drafted in 1966.

LOL. "We're out of T120R pipes in the bin! No problem, mate! Just dig into the TT bin and put those on!"

Back when TT stood for Tourist Trophy, not Tavern to Tavern. Neat.

That paint job is not what I had on mine. This one is a rendition by some guy who just had to add some striping..AND, it surely has lower compression pistons than a true Factory 65 TT engine. But not to be too critical as this bile is really a well put together, very nice machine, very street-able and I’d love it..

The colour scheme doesn’t denote the year of a vehicle. They can paint it pink if they want to but it won’t change the year it was built and the entry in the factory records. They said it is a special. Never claimed anything else. And they are experts in restoration having restored many marks of bike.

if they don't know what year it is, what was the chance anything else was accurate? 1966 model,

it was assembled 16 december 1965 despatched 18 december to tri cor usa i have had the bike just over a year now had top end rebuilt due to no oil getting to rockers
@DEeMONsworld4 жыл бұрын
@@davidquenault3288 maybe it was assembled in late December 65, but its a 1966 model. You guys have no clue, owned both a 65 and 66 TT, in 1965 and 1966. It has the narrow tank from 66 and the paint job. Get your facts straight. Also it had different crank, lighter flywheel, new 1 1/8" main roller bearings (e2879), different high performance cams ( E4819) and ( E4855), nee pushrods and new double Valve springs. All things you could check.

@@DEeMONsworld Thanks for your reply BUT any Triumph built after August 1965 is classed as a 1966 model. My bike has all of the aforementioned parts. I have checked and it is definitely a genuine 1966 TT. I have a Certificate from The Vintage Motor Cycle Club confirming that the numbers match from Triumph's works. Engine and Frame Number match - DU31250TT.
@BillyG8694 жыл бұрын
OK, lets see that ID on the cases, and lets see the frame numbers. I’ve had these over the years and can’t tell you how many bogus so called “Triumph TT Specials” I’ve seen. Forks do not appear to be correct. Fork rake is Bonneville? TT was less angle. How can anyone present themselves as “experts” and not point this out? Looks like a TT, sounds like a Bonneville T120 with TT Pipes? Oh, how about that Bonneville rear hub? Please check the specs...

Two lefty monoblocs Nice Bonnie but not a TT Spec

How can you tell by looking at a KZbin video if the rake is 2 or 3 degrees different?
@sebrowe92652 жыл бұрын
I bought a 66 tt special frame and engine locally in Texas from an old ex dealer. Everyone said it was fake etc but I had the numbers run by a guy in the owners club in the UK and although numbers don’t match they verified they were both engine and frame are genuine tt special shipped to California in 65/66. This guy has built a great bike and it’s what he loves there’s so many negative people out there I’d love to criticize their builds

@@DEeMONsworld have you ever seen this bike in person or owned it?
@DEeMONsworld3 жыл бұрын
@@adam-il1fi yes I owned a 1965 Bonneville TT special, in 1965, bought new, I've had this discussion before with uninformed individuals, the 65 Model yet had blue and silver tank with either chrome fenders or painted fenders with a blue stripe. The controversy comes because some Bikes, for example in this case some 1966s, were manufactured in 1965, so if you go by the numbers it comes up as a 65. Those who know , know, my friend had a 1966 at the time, so I know that bike as well.
@adam-il1fi3 жыл бұрын
@@DEeMONsworld im assuming your around 80 years old, so how do you remember the colour of your friends motorcycle mudguards from 56 years ago ?
@DEeMONsworld3 жыл бұрын
@@adam-il1fi I'm 74, bought my TT when I was 18 or so, put on a bates headlight and tail light, and rode it on the street, my friend did the same, but the 65 was a little faster with the 11. 5 pistons. At least I'd beat him in a drag race . Everytime. The East coast tts had painted fenders in 65, the West coast dealers got chrome fenders, not sure if that was actually the case, but Triumph was changing things all the time. I later flat tracked the bike, then sold it to a third friend who went on to get his national AMA number and raced occasionally against gene Romero. And others on the East coast circuit. Any more questions?
