The year I was born. What an iconic car. I remember riding in Cadillacs as a child, my father's parents only drove Cadillacs and some other GM cars. I always felt special riding in those Cadillacs. Truly quality from bumper to bumper and made to last a lifetime. Cars made today won't be running 55 years from now. They ate throwaways. I wish I could afford this fine automobile..even if I could, it wouldn't fit in my garage lol. It's way too long.

Looks like we will have ro extend your garage to accommodate the VERY LONG Cadillac. Take care be well - cheers! :)

That car brings back many fond memories. In 1985, for about $800, we picked up a near identical car, same color even, but ours was the limo version, with the divider. It had 51,000 km on it when we got it. Unfortunately, these were just about worthless back then. It had been bouncing around from auction to auction, with the price getting lower and lower. We were the second real owners. The first owner we believe was the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia (based on what we were told and based on the contents of a file folder we found under the rear-most seat). After that, the second registration was to a car dealer (used for a short while for their service shuttle), and then it was registered by us. While we had some great times in that car, unfortunately we beat the heck out of if it. We'd pack the car full of up to 13 drunken teenagers and cruise between bars, often in cities 100's of miles away. The rear HVAC system was awesome for when the car was full of people. I'll always remember how that thing would burn rubber, even when packed with people and it had a strong posi rear end. One "cool feature" was how, due to its length, it would slowly oversteer when burning rubber. This made it easy to control during long burnouts, with the back end fish tailing from side to side. Over the next few years we put another 50,000km on it, but since we were driving it in the winter and in the salt belt, it very quickly rusted away. In reality, although the body looked very good, the underside was quite rusty (including holes starting in the floor) when we bought it. After only about 5 years, we junked it for scrap metal. I recall we got about 50% more for it, by weight, compared to a 1976 Caprice Classic we junked at the same time. Me and a buddy did try to save it and store it in a covered barn, but the storage cost was too much for us broke university students, at the time. It is amazing how some cars go through a period of no value, before climbing back up in value.

Absolutely love it. Brings back memories. Drove a black 1966 like this with similar interior in 1995 with my mother in the back seat. She knew the original owner. When they sold it, they got a 1978 Fleetwood 75 limousine, which I bought and owned for a number of years later. We drove over 70K miles in it. I would never take anyone to a ball game in a car like this, OH NO, but it is perfect for going to the theatre. We did that several times with the 1978. We even went to one of the last concerts Victor Borge had in Copenhagen in it. The hotel let us park it in the underground parking garage, because I had bought tickets for our chauffeur as well, why he couldn't watch the car while we were at the concert. You learn to be selective with your chauffeurs, when you want to be driven in a car like this.

As others have said too painful to watch. Go for months sometimes without watching. Is it lust? Is it age? Or is it something else? I think it is a combination. It is such a sense of loss. And the cars back then had such visual stimulation as opposed to today. Then there is the beauty and the longing and sense of tragedy as to what has happened to us today compared to back then. All of these things way in the balance. Too look at this car I feel guilty and it inflames such passion. It almost looks mystical, not real. Yes, sometimes I think it would be better if they banned all car videos from this era and before.
@veronicahawthorne34523 жыл бұрын
I hear what you're saying..but I'm glad they don't ban videos like this! These remind me of growing up in the 60s and 70s, riding in these beauties. It gives me such a happy, warm feeling that there are still people who will love and care for these rare jewels. One day gas running cars will be probably banned by the government..and gas will no longer be produced. They want everything on the road to be electric. I just wish I had the money to own something like this. I'd love, drive and care for it until I die, then leave it to another car enthusiast I know. That's how much I love these cars. There's just something special about Cadillacs of this Era.

One thing I do know, is you can't (tweak the color of paint) without painting it. And that bubble in the paint he mentioned, would have broke through after all this time from rust and moisture being underneath the bubble in the paint. And it looks like someone added a antenna onto the rear fender.

At 30 seconds I see a tone of rust in the rear wheel well. The carpeting is so beat up, my bet says it is rotten and will tear like an old rag. My guess is condensation under the carpet has rust all over. If you as the seller were to take up the carpet, you would be responsible for all the rust and be obliged to repair it all. The car is beautiful on the surface, however beauty is only skin deep. The buyer will have to sink a sizable amount into this beautiful ride.
