I bought one almost exactly like this in 1966, same color, Marina blue and white interior with white convertible top, 396 with 325 horsepower, special order, one of the first. Dealership put an eight track tape player in it for me, only second one in the city, with owner of dealership having first, what a sound I thought it was. I traded it two years later for a new 1968 corvette. Some guy near me bought the Chevelle , put it in garage, and I think he still has it. I sure miss that car.

I don't think so. He has had it since 1968 when I traded it for the Corvette . He bought it from the dealer. I would like to have it myself. Should have kept it, but a corvette was around 6 thousand back then which was quite a bit more than a Chevelle, and I could not handle it.I will go look at it and ask him.

Brother u r so right, cool is cool, I love the over the top show cars, on the stands, turn tables, carpet etc, etc, but personally I love the mixture, cars that are total show AND go. I love it when I see Riddler and Street Machine of the Year winners and contenders out there mixing it up with us everyday folk, getting their rides dirty. The Grandmaster, the T-Bird, the forty Ford, Rivision, Scott Sullivans cars, Troy Trepaniers Rad Ride cars all built to be shown and driven, and driven hard. Art and functionality!

You know, I have a 72 skylark & I've always wanted a trunk like that , but I'm concerned about having a spare tire. My spare is a full size, it sits flat off to the right not vertically, horizontally & I have a speaker box back there. Mine just looks crappy. Someone told me to get a compact spare. I'm not sure where I would find one. Any ideas? A lot of those cars don't have a spare tire. What's your take? I don't want to get a flat on the road.

I don't run a spare with my car...aftermarket wheels and changed the size...If I have a flat....I call for a tow....Cool is not always practical...lol...Most Hot Rods do not have a spare...

That's a clone..The SS badge on the grille is either from a Camaro or aChevelle SS '70 or later.1966 through 1969 SS cars had SS396 emblems front and rear not just SS.Also a real SS396138 car is worth too much money to customize like that so it's pretty much an SS clone.The title and the vin tags on an original SS396 car alone is worth $2500.
