I bought one in 1966, an Aztec Bronze convertible brand new for $3,000 as a leftover before the !967's came out. 396 and 325 horses. Fast and beautiful.

One of my all-time favorite Chevelle's. This one is a true beauty. If it was me doing a frame off, I would have crammed in an LS-6 or at least a fire breathing 427. The 396 was never distinguished as a power plant, IMO. Still- a gorgeous car with a stick no less- those were rare even back in the day.

Iam a ford man never a chevy man but i had a friend who had One the 66 chevelle is one beautiful car we use to go every where in it as it was a straight 6 with a 2 speed power glide trans got fairly descent mileage at the time my old fords didn’t of course they were v8s I swear i have always said I wouldnt buy another chevy But i have to say if i got a chance to buy one of the 66 chevelle’s i dont think i could pass it up the 66’s are sexy just like the 67/68 mustangs 65 stangs are also beautiful.

I had plenty! Had a 66 ss super sport 396 in 1970. Factory maroon convertible. Hurst 4. Posi. Only paid $6 or 750 for it. Fast! Very fast.
