Here is where it all starts, the disassembly. I know the video is long and Im talking a lot. I wanted to give the backstory on the bike as I know it and talk through the parts that I am removing.

Well on my 1980 it came with an s&s oil pump and it seems to work pretty good.. I have heard when the twin cams first came out the engineers that worked on the pump that went in the twin cam were amazed at how well Carly's pump from the knucklehead years and all the way through till the evo years was doing quite well an engineered well now that's just something I read oh maybe 20 some years ago .. ago

I bet they was a great read and some good info. I’ve seen a lot of them on running bikes and I’ve also had S&S pumps on others. Just thinking that while it being built, that maybe it could be time to upgrade

I think normally has a bolt that goes inside were you mentioned that has a stud sticking out which is better to put the stud that way you're not putting a bolt in and out of the tank which sometimes can poke a hole in the tank.. if you're not careful and you can wear the threads out or cause a week so it's best to have a stud in there. And then you just take a nut , to mount tank . And I usually put a couple of fiber washers to keep the tank a little further away from the frame..

I have seen them both ways. Definitely agree. I’ve seen bolts ran right into the tank and caused a leak. I haven’t used fiber washers between the tanks but think it’s a great idea

@@Rockeys_Chop_Shop well I usually glue about two or three fiber washers.. I do that on three spots where the bolts go through.. I only do that because it seems so tight when you go to mount them up there at the wiring or the wiring is.. I guess it just gives a little bit of breathing room..

Definitely aftermarket taillight. I think it’s cool and may keep it.

The petcock is a high flow pingo petcock.. so that is not original.. but it's a good pet cock

The Pingel is a nice older one. Definitely not stock. Just wondering about the tanks. They’re nice enough for what I’m doing
