1966 Porsche 912 - Jetting and Syncing Solex Carburetors

This took a while to put together, mostly because I was waiting on parts between shots. I first started looking only at the main jets, but then noticed the main air and idle jets were all oversized. Bought some new ones and got the car working a lot better, but still needs work.
I also included a syncing procedure that works well for me using the stock split shaft carbs from later 912's. The Solex 40-PII. These carbs were only put on later 912's but came with mine. They are unique in that you can adjust each throat's butterfly relatively easily. I hear most people delete this once rebuilt but I wanted to document it here before I go down that route.

Thanks for this , very useful, as an aside did you get the cylinder numbers right ? My book:reads cyl 1 and 3 are towards the front of the car ?

I may have messed that up. That is correct. 1 and 3 are facing the front of the car.

A lot of the Solex PII40 after 50 years need rework, usually the throats need reboring and the shafts rebushing. You can find replacement keys for these if that is the concern. By the way your engine number is just two engines away from my 66. Did you get a Kardex for your car (buildsheet-ish) ?
