I had almost forgotten about those silly anti-fog stickers on the car windows. My dad still used them into the late 70s. Lots of awesome memories watching this. Thanks so much.

United Army Surplus @ Memorial Blvd and Portage Ave. Long gone as are all the buildings in that area. The Hudson Bay store is just to screen left..which is also vacant now. @2:50 Heading north over the Donald street Bridge into downtown. @4:56 Henderson highway heading north, Browns Drugs killer neon sign is still there as is the pharmacy. @9:56 Chans Cafe on Main Street was THE place to eat, mingle and catch all the great bands of the day upstairs. This reel is a "reel" gem!!

Turn 65 today, and this is such a fantastic reminder of the way Canada looked when I was a kid!

Advertised in the window of the Safeway store were Art Linkletter's Encyclopedia for Boys and Girls. I got the whole set when I was a kid and still have them. I used to read those cover to cover.

Frost Sheilds . . . . Lots of people have never heard of them.

Grew up during the sixties. Hated frost shields! We kept them on during the summer. Yellowed. My dad encased the car seats in plastic seat covers.
@greathodgy2210 ай бұрын
Yes and then when you rolled down the window, they would crack and splinter, I remember. My dad had a 46' Ford and the heater would not keep the front window clear of frost. Had them there too.@@petervitti9

Cool the Birt's Saddlery (2 white horses) is still there today I think. That building was the first photography studio around 1880. Real wild west history.

Brings back a lot of memories as a youngster growing up in Wpg late 60s-early 70s. The Genie natural gas sign. Long gone companies like BA and Roco gas stations. How about Security Storage? And the cigarette ads. The old Safeway logo. And, yes the frost shields on cars. Remember my dad having them on his '62 Fairlane. That '65 Impala convertible would be worth quite a bit today. People also didn't seem to be in a hurry like nowadays.

You can really see how they just kept expanding and widening roads with only cars in mimd when you look at old film from the 60s to 90s. Were only just begining the undoing of decades that made the car hellscape we live in now. To be fair most cities in NA did this. Luckily a lot of central Winnipeg neighborhoods are still very walkable and livable, and every year we take back little pieces from the cars and improve the lives of people who live here.
