Definitely going for that perfect smoothness. I’d rather jump off a bridge than sand that much body filler lol nice work guys

i love it when you are sanding the cab and the fan turns then pops back to pointing at the cab, then slowly turns, then pops back to pointing at the cab like 3 times, then suddenly its pointing at the cab with a cart next to it so it stays put.

I'm Very surprised that with this much work going into it, y'all didn't wet sand the primer. I'm Shocked!! Wet Sand is best for a flawless paint Job!!

I'm kind of surprised you guy's would skim coat the entire vehicle. I would think with the great metal guy's you have, that all you would need to get it flat would be the polyester primer. I guess that's why you vehicles come out so nice....

Thanks for your comment. There are many things to consider here, not the least of which is the customer's budget. High-end full custom builds generally run in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and bodywork on these builds is already labor intense, expensive, and to a level that you simply could not achieve with metal work alone. You might be able to get close, but you'd spend an astronomical amount of time and the customer's money on something that will probably still require a skim coat in places to look as straight and be gapped as well as people have come to expect from these cars. Things can look pretty good in bare metal, but when you put that coat of shiny black paint on, you'll be able to tell the difference. When you take into consideration not just a particular panel itself, but also how that panel transitions into other panels, gaps, etc., it's just not practical. Keep in mind that after all is said and done with the sanding block, it's a very thin amount of material that remains on the car. Hope this clarifies things somewhat.

Great to watch professional work. How come you epoxy prime some projects like the 34 Ford and not this project? I noticed you blasted that body. You can use filler right over the epoxy primer? I thought this was best on bare metal but I know products have improved a great deal. What would be the final result comparisons be with or without the epoxy primer for your customers? Would it prevent future bubbles and seal better?

Hey Said - google a guy named Tyler Krause. He's done paint and body on a lot of high-level custom cars you might recognize and has a bunch of instructional videos on bodyworking. He also sells some of the specialized tools.

I'll never understand using that amount of filler on a vehicle. Crack city.
