I'd also consider myself a beginner due to the fact that after about 35 yrs. I have decided to get back into model car building. I had built many many kits when I was young and only had dreams of the detailing that is now so very possible due to all the new products that are available these days. TY 4 sharing. And yes panel liner is not to good for accenting the grills. It is better to make your own solution. I'm working on two 67s that are going to be green and gold and green and chrome. I appreciate your in depth explanation of your technique. Once again TYVM

Matt, you've timed this one well! I have had mine stashed away for several years now and realise it's going to need more work on it than I thought! I think it was an all new tool in 1997/98; that's when I bought mine and it is one of the high quality kits AMT was bringing out in that late 1990s period. I tend to check whether everything is intact and the color of the parts, e.g. when a red car is on the box and everything in the box is red, I know I've got my work cut out for me!

Hey Matthew those MCW paints can be reduced with lacquer thinner just like testors enamels so they’ll dry almost immediately. Also those smaller parts instead of glueing pieces of sprue I melt the sprue piece just a little and put it in a hidden spot just like you and it pops right of afterwards.

Picked up this kit to get back into the hobby after 30 years.. I’m struggling with the suspension assembly, many moving parts to hold at the same time. Any recommendations?
@modelcarvideos58293 жыл бұрын
Super glue works faster but you'd better have them all where you want them. I use tamiya thin cement and a good set of angle tweezers.
@richdoyle66232 жыл бұрын
Gluing the suspension assembly before paint will help. Painted parts sometimes seem more slippery than sticky. Sometimes I choose to have fixed position wheels and if the axel assembly is plastic I may not have them roll. I have found that allowing all that movement weaken the joints in time.
@joelrooks3893 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew, I love your videos and the detailed information is great. When do you decide prime and paint versus just paint? You said you painted the frame without primer. I know the 2X paint says it doesn’t need primer but I always doubt that.
@modelcarvideos58293 жыл бұрын
I only find it necessary to prime if it's the body.
@neiljumpinjackflash75513 жыл бұрын
I've watched quite a few of your Videos and I notice you don't use primer before painting. Any reason? When I tried that the paint chipped and wouldn't adhere properly to the body. Also when I prime and then lightly scuff the body, the final painting turns out really nice and flat.
@modelcarvideos58293 жыл бұрын
Actually I primed and sanded after primer. Yeah if I didn't prim it would look terrible.
