Glad to see you used cast iron manifolds instead of headers. I used stock exhaust manifolds on my 383ci small block powered S-10. Most headers won't fit on a small block Chevy on a first gen S-10, some can be made to fit with cutting, welding, and hammering. Stock manifolds work fine for a street car/truck, fit properly, don't leak, last forever, and you only lose a small amount of power.

I'm team manifolds too, but consider the goals for the truck. The 318 could very well be temporary and eventually be replaced by a completely different engine, so sinking tons of money into headers and fancy bends doesn't make sense for a dirt cheap cruiser. That's on top of the benefits of manifolds.

Great video Dr. Art, thanks for showing us how to get those angles. I never realized how easy it can be to get the right angles with a chop saw.

Yes sir. Now im inspired to make my own side pipes. Salvage some plumbing from a diesel truck junkyard for the flashy parts. And wed them to headers. Lol yeah

Cut the about 3/4 way through. Move the saw down a little bit cut another slot. Keep making slots, until you can get the bent you need and weld the slots up. Like a bendy straw. I did that on my one truck. Seemed to work ok

Great job so far, Doc! I know it's not cheap, I know it's not timely, I know it's not your truck and I know it's actually a '68 (not a surprise if the title says 1967), but y'know what I'd be interested in is an electronic engine management conversion. Fuel injection and ignition mostly. I have electronic ignition on mine and keeping the carb functional is a pain. Been kicking around the idea of trying to find an early injection system and "grafting" it to my 383. Feasibility, cost, ignorance and fear have stifled the thought for years. Many 'tubers talk about "cheap" upgrades or additions or repairs and sometimes "cheap" turns into thousands of dollars. I guess I have a different idea of cheap. Maybe I have chosen the wrong hobby or maybe I'm too cheap. Thoughts?
