I have one just like it. Bought in Vietnam in 1969 and still wear it today.

Hi Jimmy. This was the perfect start of the week. Superb watch, love the bracelet and the fade on the insert. The simple 2liner dial and the creamy lume.🙌🏻🙌🏻👍🏻

Thanks Mark, I do hope my kids appreciate my collection after I’m long gone. My father was a collector of firearms and had a real wealth of knowledge and passion for his collection so my brother and I maintain his firearms and we can’t imagine parting with them so I hope my kids are the same years down the track. Cheers mate.

Very nice watch (especially the case) but I think the insert is a 'mid-font' from early-mid 80's and possibly artificially aged. I would try to track down a long 5 for it personally.

Just picked up a 1966 Meters First w/riveted bracelet (Swiss). Sparingly polished as well and at a good price, no box or papers though......well done you have the papers as those are fetching $28- $35K these days or even more based on condition. Nice video 👍🏻

Awesome collection and watch mate. Was wondering if you could do a video on the process you went through in purchasing this watch. If it was bought online how you verified it, questions asked etc etc. Thanks

Andrew Aitken thanks mate, id never buy vintage Rolex online only in person and preferably through a respected dealer that stands behind his product and guarantees its authenticity. As for knowing what to look for, that’s just years of experienced collecting, I’ve looked at enough dials, hands and cases to tell the difference between originals and molested. Cheers mate

how is your 5513 us rivet bracelet is so tight, looks like newone?

It a stretch riveted bracelet so the internal springs keep the bracelet tight.

Concerning the USA bracelets. If you had a certain percentage of USA sourced parts your import tax would be reduced by getting under tariffs. Later in the 70’s to early 80’s Rolex North America even started using boxes and packaging made in America. In the 50’s into the 70’s you could specify whether you wanted a genuine Swiss bracelet or the cheaper USA version. Or perhaps a leather strap and buckle. The dealer would install your choice at time of purchase. Also most of the packaging such as boxes and booklets were shipped separately and packaged together by the AD. That’s why you see such a variation with boxes from the 60’s for the exact same year references. It was was fast and loose back in those days.To an extent Rolex still ships things separately. The watch/bracelet is separate in it’s own protective shipping holder, the box/manuals are separate and the AD is responsible for unpacking and marrying up everything behind the scenes. Nice 5513 BTW. I recently sold a nice 1966 Mat finish meters first dial and picked up a 1966 Gilt dial Fullset. I’ve had many old Subs pass through my hands over the years and the 5512/5513 with the gilt dials are my favorite. I passed on a UK only market 5513 with the coveted and extremely rare gilt Explorer dial back in the late 90’s because at 25k I deemed it too expensive. Those 3~6~9 5513’s now routinely sell for 200k+.

I have to admit you can’t go past a gilt dial especially a gilt explorer dial 🤤 Thanks for the info, cheers

1967 5513 here European bracelet. Not wearing it too much as it is a real collection piece. Love the lightly domed crystal. I don't like modern Rolex, but I love the 1967 5513 which I could afford, and the 1950s 6542 that I can't afford.

Love watching your show, can you please tell me why Rolexes come with anchor tags? What's the history behind them? They just seem like a piece of metal to me!! Many thanks
@jimmysplit77294 жыл бұрын
Neel Sengupta I guess it’s just a nicely cast anchor that certifies the watch as a professional 200 meter diver, I’m not certain if the submariner had the anchor from the beginning but I think it would be nice if the professional divers still came with the anchor. Cheers mate.
