I got into chargers because my dad bought a 1968 charger in 1970 for $2,500. It was green with an olive drab top and it had a 383, 727 transmission and dana 60 rear end.

Don't go junking those panels you aren't using if there rust free, those dents are easily pulled out. One day you won't be able to buy panels and at the rate everyone seems to be buy up these cars the world over, that day will come around fast. I'm kicking myself for not keeping what I had years gone. Like your work, I'm an old spray painter from the past. Looking forward to the next video. Pete.

@@junkerup , I remember being with my parents going on go-karts when I was living a few hours north of Las Vegas. I wanted to go there, meaning Las Vegas, with them, as I had not seen them for around three years at that point in my life. Oddly enough, we didn't go to a casino, but seeing as they were, or my mom was/is, a Christian, it simply wasn't a good idea to do that, and I never really liked casinos anyway, despite literally living across the street from a casino/hotel/shopping center/restaurant (though the restaurant had surprisingly good food, which I liked). (The town that I lived in was in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the high desert/mountains and it was also not a very big town.)

You're a lucky guy, we never got those American chargers in Australia, they built Aussie chargers in South Australia, smaller different car but very nice . Too expensive to buy one now , they want $20 ,000 for a rusted out wreck . Just love the US built chargers , who doesn't like the General Lee . Great find but it breaks my heart to see any old Mopar used for parts . But that's how its got to be to save the other car's. Take care mate , lucky guy.
@paxhumana20155 жыл бұрын
Peter Goodwin, actually, they are not really smaller at all, as they are built upon the same Dodge Charger/Coronet/Dart/Brazilian Charger/Plymouth Road Runner frame, but the Australian/Oceanian Chrysler vehicles just look different because of different parts, as well as different body panel sizes than their counterparts from the Americas. However, at least 90% of them are similar with their cousins from the Americas.

Nice finds. What else did they have? If you don't want to drill your locks out take out the passenger side lock. Printed on the lock housing will be the key code in most cases especially on older U.S, nd foreign cars. Bring the code or lock to your locksmith and he can cut you a new key for it for few bucks.

Vegas is not a good place to park these gems either is Arizona or any of the high desert areas.

I am 58 years old and I remember when I was 13 and my brother-in-law let me drive his 1968 Red Charger 4 speed manual. I liked the car, in my opinion the best version of the Charger for its front grille and round rear tail lights. I do not remember if it was 440. Bueutiful car.
@paxhumana20155 жыл бұрын
I like the 1969-1970 version better, as I like those big lights in the back...it made it look more menacing and bad-ass, Ktronica. However, in more recent times, Mopar made their most insanely powerful engine ever in the Hellephant and it is also available, not only to classic Mopar cars, but also to modern ones, in a crate engine kit form. The Hellephant is an even more insanely powerful version of the SRT8 Hellcat and SRT8 Hellcat Demon engines and it has gone from a 6.2 liter (1.64 gallon) engine to a 7.0 liter (1.85 gallon) engine, 4.0 inches of stroke, 4.125 bore inch specifications, a mind numbing 1,000 HP, and a staggering 950 lb ft of torque. You can also even mate it up to the six-speed manual transmissions that are available for the modern Dodge Charger Hellcat and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat if you so desire, and they can also be converted to fit the transmissions of your old school Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth/De Soto/Imperial/AMC vehicle as well, I think. carbuzz.com/news/dodge-unveils-hellephant-crate-motor-good-for-1000-horsepower www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/sema-show/a24442248/mopars-hellephant-is-a-1000-hp-hellcat-crate-engine-taken-to-the-extreme/ www.topspeed.com/cars/all-about-the-hellephant-crate-engine-and-why-you-should-care-ar183283.html media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=20381&mid= www.mopar.com/en-us/store/performance/engine-accessories.html

i had a customer in the 70's who had a Australian charger that was a real base model car, 215 Oz hemi six, three speed column shift, bench seat , no radio, etc etc . And ordering that car wasn't the only thing he went cheap on, he would get the oil changed but insisted I not do the filter. One day I forgot and changed it anyway. He went crazy because his bill was $5 more than usual. When I took the filter off it was so heavy with dirt It was amazing.. Apparently he would take the spin on cartridge off and wash it out.....
@petergoodwin24656 жыл бұрын
Yes mate , they really ran the old Aussie Mopars into the ground . My uncle never changed the oil in his VG or serviced it. Just drove it for years until it got stolen then bought a Cl and drove that all over Australia without touching it for 10 years . Now we're fixing these old beasts up and the damage people did was incredible. No modern car would last a year of that abuse. They were cheap so no one cared .
@paxhumana20155 жыл бұрын
Your customer was a fucking moron, as those things should be changed, and/or cleaned, on a pretty regular basis, just like certain vacuum cleaners and their air filters, Mercmad...it is the same principle, more or less, really, because dirt and debris could easily choke out an air filter, which, in turn, could cause catastrophic damage to your engine, transmission, and many other things in your car or other vehicle.
