1968-69 GE Washer w/ V-14 Ramp Activator

I was born in 1969. My grandfather bought my mom a GE washer and dryer. Grandpa thought she had too much laundry with me being in diapers. It replaced a Kenmore wringer washer and drying clothes on the line. It was a "Heavy Duty 18" It had a little different lid latches and a light blue agitator. Her lint filter was a little different as it had a lower part for the fabric softener. Ours didn't have the light above the controls. It still made the same brake noises. In 1992 I bought a new GE washer and it was similar to the old one my parents had. I'm still using it 31 years later.

My mother had a 1969 GE V-14 just like the one here. That round filter tray with the water always fascinated me when I was a kid. Watching this video (and listening to the unmistakable sound of it) sure brings back childhood memories of "laundry day" which was every Saturday in our house in the 1960s and 70s.

An oldie, but a goodie! These were built to last. Mom had one of these when I was younger, I think her's was a 1981 or a 1982 model, a little newer than this one, but still an excellent machine, too. I truly wish GE would bring these washers back into style. I am not crazy about the new washers of today. I'll take one of these old workhorses over 10 new washers they build today! Great video!

Just got our 1969 Filter-Flo back up-and-running today, with a new "water-level switch"-----luckily, someone online was selling an unused 1969 part still in the box !---This incredible machine is 50 yrs old and still running!

A guy from my work just gave me a machine just like this. My computer control went out on my newish whirlpool front loader. This one still works like a charm. They dont make em like they used to!

Great machine you have. My mother's boyfriend gave us his GE in 1983, it was probably 5 or 10 years old when he gave it to. I used it for a year or so, the bought a Whirlpool. I Didn't like it, but it had more to do with who it came from and not the brand.

One of the best washers GE ever made... these washers were workhorses and were constructed with good quality... GE will never make quality machines like this ever...

Yup it basically starts the spray while there's still warm water in the basket. Some models did a continuous spray throughout the spin, this one cuts off. Otherwise the only differences are shorter wash and spin times.

GE honestly needs to have Whirlpool make their washers using the Whirlpool trim and Whirlpool controls. Amana, Maytag, Roper & Kitchen Aid all have Whirlpool make their washers.
