Like you, I started doing this over 40 years ago. A teenager in love with Mopars. My first car was a '70 Charger I bought from the original owner in '81. I now own a '68 Plymouth GTX with a 505 stroker. It's good to see someone your age working on these machines of the past. You're learning a valuable skill. I also live in Portland. S.E.

I love the sound of the old Mopar starter... friends used to give me the business about its signature sound.... but then would put their money on my car in most races.

Dampen the area around where the battery leaked, once wet sprinkle with baking soda to neutralize the acid, rinse it down thoroughly then wash with Dawn and rinse again. Hopefully you'll catch it in time before it starts to rust the metal!

Don't paint it, rub it down with Penetrol. Don't sell it.! I did the whole new interior, headliner. new vinyl top then antiqued the top to make it look as old as the 331 paint . Nothing Cooler, good on you.

If you don't keep working on the rebuild of your car you will find that the work you have already carried out will deteriorate and need further attention. Take your time doing things, pay attention to detail and use finesse doing all things and you will find that at completion of your MOPAR build every minute and each dollar spent was worth it.

I think the red wheels give the Charger a nascar/stock car look. It looks cool. Nice work young man.

At first, I absolutely freaking hated the red wheels, but once you started to back the Charger out of the driveway, I remembered why 68-70 Chargers are the greatest looking muscle car ever. Thank you for re-invigorating me, into wanting to work on my 1970 Charger, we dubbed Jezebel. Oh I almost forgot, I fell in love with the red wheels as soon as it hit the street. Great video man, keep up the great work, oh and make sure to secure your battery down, that could have been bad.

If it obviously has fuel in the carb and you can see it dont pump the gas a thousand times in between cranks. Its designed to only need one or two to start. You flooded it out thats why it was so difficult to get going. Since your carb and everything looks new the proper procedure would gave been to crank it with no ether and without touching the gas to draw fuel to the carb. Once you see the oil pressure come up, give it 1-2 pumps then crank. Only give it 1-2 in between attempts. Ive learned this from experience its the proper procedure to start a carburated car cold. We have pulled several pos cars and trucks out of fields and put fresh gas in them and this procedure works every time and is the smoothest starting procedure. This is how the factory says to start these cars for a reason. Ether and shit tons of pumping is not necessary, just floods the engine out and makes things more difficult. I daily drive carburated cars all year around and i live in canada. 2 pumps in minus 40 gets the car going with about a minute or two of throttle modulation till its warm enough to not stall. Just thought i’d share this with you to make your life easier next time around

If its being a real cunt and doesnt wanna fire at all after several several attempts thats when you give it ether. Even then you only typically have that scenario when the carb is 50 years old and complete trash. I bet that thing woulda fired right up with 1-2 pumps once the carb had fuel. I guarantee it would have 100%

Pick up the correct upper radiator hose next time you’re at the parts store… that one looks a little crimped because it’s too short.
