1968 Ford Thunderbird 429 ThunderJet 429 cu in (V8 engine)

The fifth generation Ford Thunderbird is a large personal luxury car series, produced by Ford for the 1967-1971 model years. The 1968 Thunderbird saw the introduction of the new 385 series big-block "Thunder Jet" 4V (4 barrel carburetor) 429 cu in (7.0 L) V8 engines. Like many Ford engines of the time, they were conservatively rated at 360 hp (268 kW) (SAE gross). Its gorgeous!! I own a 1967 Landau Coupe that I bought in 1989 and still have it. I've collected every trim piece, mirrors, lenses, grilles etc all in NOS including about 15 NOS wheelcovers LOL YES im crazy. I hope to get mine back on the road this summer. I get what you mean as mine is NOT FOR SALE EVER. I drove that car daily from 89- 1998 and in those 165,000 miles I made so many memories and everyone who I loved (many are now gone) have rode in it. It's those memories that cannot be replaced ever. If I were offered $150G when its restored I wouldn't sell it! The memories and the way I feel when I'm in it make me feel like im still 23 and the car makes me HAPPY and takes me to a happier time in my life.

I own a Rangoon red (white vinyl top) ‘65 Thunderbird landau. It’s not as nice as this one but it will do alright at local car shows. Mine has the 390 V8, power just about everything. Clock and air conditioner don’t work but here in Western Washington air isn’t a necessity. Beautiful car, I thought the 4 doors were pretty classy, this one here is a great example.

I had a 1969 2 door still my favorite car I had owned. The 429 is a powerful engine the car is a sleeper. The factory engine has a nice sound to it and the car has a ride that you can no longer achieve in new cars it floats down the road like a boat. Love your car that’s a keeper👍🏻
