David Land wish they showed more of the track. You got a decent view of the track from the turn three/start of finish straight bleachers. I saw this race in person. Incredible three way battle for last half of race. One of the all time great Indy Car races.

@@Miatacrosser I've actually found where the track was. Nobody knew before apparently. But there's literally only farmland left.

@Fresburger that's one salty farmer.

I was there. The narrator said it exactly as it happened. But what happened to the STP Turbine car of Joe Leonard? When Leonard came in it appeared that USAC officials held the car for at least 25 seconds with Andy Granatelli waving his arms wildly in the pit lane. Never heard why they really held the car. All I know is it was always said that if the Turbine car ever finishes a race, it would win. Well this race was the only race it ever finished and it finished fourth. The final three way battle between Foyt, Unser, and Andretti spanned the last 66 laps or 100 miles. Hands down the most entertaining Indy Car race in 1968, much less the entire decade.

This video is from 1968. The Speedvision graphic on the video is incorrect.

The easy way to tell is that if this was 1970 Al Unser would be driving the Johnny Lightning car.

@Fresburger I've found where it is via tons of USGS imagery. But it's not perfect.

It was demolished back in the 70's. Now just a cotton field with no signs of a track having ever been there/

It was eventually plowed under and is now farmland just as it was before it was built.

This is AWESOME! Do you have ALL of the “Car and Track” episodes? Im desperately trying to track down a usac stock car race on short track in NEastern Wi from 1968 or 69. Theres a whole USAC Stock car group on Facebook that would loooove to see it. THANKS FOR THE POST.
