Great footage of the high-mounted rear wings mounted directly on to the suspension that were later banned after the 1969 Monaco Grand Prix.

@Flame Resistant Troll The first qualifying session at Monaco used the high-mounted wings - they were then banned. All qualifying times were scrapped and the process of qualifying recommenced.

Why they are specifically banned?

Thanks for this upload. What a window to racing fifty years ago, and how much concerns are still the same - aero, cost, risk. Thankfully, driver loss is now very rare, and may it remain so!

Man.. what a great era for New Zealand F1, Bruce and the champ Denny Hulme in the McLarens & Chris Amon in the Ferrari! Hopefully we can see Liam Lawson and Louis Sharp in F1 together some day soon. And also a constant stream of other kiwis continuing to dominate Indy, WEC, Super Formula, Super GT, FE.....whatever else with a motor.

GREAT ! Thank you. What a time it was, as the guy at the beginning indicates, in every race back then a fatality was, if not expected, anticipated. And what a poignant comment by the unmatchable Graham at the end.

@@marguskiis7711 No! It isn't. It isn't the Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team. It is owned by corporations, has no time for innovation, no time for involvement in real motor racing, just the car pilots who steer a car, that is controlled by the techs and mechs in te pits. Brake balance, fuel mixture, tyre pressures, everything is controlled by the pit crews. That is not motor racing. And, from my past frequent visits, there is no one as decent, and nice, as Bruce was.

@@Demun1649 Ok, the original McLaren team (Meyer, Kerr, Coppuck) last until 1981 when Ron Dennis Project 4 was renamed to McLaren aftet series of business deals. Yes, it is not the same team but a international company named after McLaren.

Shamefully sexist questions to the female interviewees from Barry Gill. Honestly it was a different era but really, instead of asking them would they marry one of the drivers ask them if they would like to drive the cars themselves. Great footage though, but cringeworthy commentary.
