"1968 MGC Fuel Sending Unit Float Replacement". Will save people some time and disappointment that you are not opening up the sender's electrics for repair.

how much fuel can there be on the tank please? As my fuel gauge is not working not too sure if there's too much in there so will spill out? or is this not a massive issue? Thanks

I would say less than a gallon. Taking out the sending unit will leak out all fuel left in the tank above the level of the bottom of the unit. You can also jack up the right side of the car to slosh the fuel away from the sending unit. You could fashion a dip stick to place in the filler neck.

Nice job as always. Fortunately on my Healey and on the Jag I restored, the sender unit is on the top of the tank, so you can remove the sender without losing fuel!

Thanks for the comment. Yea, on the top would be more convenient.

JR, this isn't the right place for this comment, but I did not know how to contact you. Does the 68 MGC (Or any MGC's) have PCV valves? Any sources of info in the MGC circles about installing one? if so, can you give me a link. Owning a Big Healey with a very similar engine, I am just curious. Thanks

No, never heard if it on a C. The rocker cover is vented from the oil filler neck to the air box but I've never heard of anyone fitting a valve to only allow one-way air flow.

JR's Garage quite a few Healey guys use one. Up side is significant reduction in rear main oil leakage. Downside is leaner rear cylinders. Later TR6s and MGs used one.

How did you clean it so well? Looks almost brand new! Well done. My tank was rusted through on the top so had to do a full replacement.

The fuel that dripped out as I was doing the job worked great as a solvent to clean the tank. I didn't think it would get as clean as it did.
