I really enjoyed just listening to the sound of that Triumph 500 exhaust.

It's interesting that this popped up on my suggested to watch list and I just can't believe how much it takes me back to the early 80s when I had my 500 on Cape Cod Massachusetts. It was the perfect place for that four speed. Off-Cape on the highway travel would turn me numb all the way up to my knees and shoulders but I love them.

The perfect motorcycle engine, the 500. Oh, it can rev alright. I loved mine. Better than the 650 I exchanged it for. The engine can be set for any purpose, racing, touring, BMX, commuting and will sound great !

True i agree but i think they would have been better with a 5 gear overdrive mine got a bit buzzy over 60

I had a 67 Daytona in the early 70s and loved it. An agile motorcycle and much preferred to the road ships that the industry migrated to. A beautiful sound, with no line destroying directional signals or disc brakes

Beautiful bike. They are easier to tune and keep tuned with a single carb. I owned a 74 TR5T converted to daytona gearing, and bored to 600cc, it was my favorite bike of all time. Now I have a 73 TR7V, non stock but fantastic ride. I would still prefer a 500 as I feel they are lighter and handle better.

I’m sure I read that Edward Turner thought that parallel twins shouldn’t go beyond 500cc. I think he thought they were the sweetest ones.

I'm on blood thinners and skin tears easy due to diabetes so my cycle riding days are over. Bought an older ('95) 318ic ragtop but just not the same as 2 wheeler. Does have room for the 85lb. black lab tho. If I find a half decent Triumph that cleans up well I can put inside where I can look & sit. Think I still have an unused headlight bulb in the toolbox if you need one. Another thing about your video. I kept trying to check the rearview mirror but there isn't one! I loved the low weight, balance & handling of the Daytona 500. Kind of scary riding it 60 miles into Atlanta on I-85, once was enough

Sounds beautiful, mate. The 500s are quite free-revving I've read and now heard. Interestingly, when the Honda people visited Meriden, circa '67, the only motor they thought was close to "cutting-edge" was the half-litre version.

Sounds plausible; the smaller ones are too slow, and the bigger ones fall apart.

I had the same but the handlebars weren't the same not as wide also mine was a 1970 Daytona 500 but it was black also. This one was probably a 5-speed the one I had was a 4-speed however these creatures have a very similar nature and you and your tune right here on top of the world when you got the right roads in the right weather!

The best of all the Triumph twins...didn’t need twin carbs either. Road race, trials, BMX, touring the 500 could do the lot. Wish I still had my T100A.

Beautiful sound and lovely looking bike. I'm booking my CBT course for next month. I'm 38 now. Am I too old to start my motorcycle journey? Fingers crossed I pass, I will be looking at buying a Mutt Mastiff 125 to get me started. One day I would love to own a Triumph.
@spinouteu96273 жыл бұрын
There is a saying that goes: “Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional “ No it is never to late or too old an age. Mutt Mastiff 125, interesting. Why a 125 and not a 250cc??

So nice! I rode a '69 T100R Daytona for 30 years before selling in 2011. This brings back a lot of memories, but I'm surprised that you have no mirrors and no Chrome trim down the center of the tank...was the welding seam removed before repaint?

Nice ride, great bike! Out of curiosity... Is the needle in the right dial reading correctly? What was your speed with 4 gear when its in the middle of the speedo?
@suzyfan6 жыл бұрын
Have to say, I spotted that, too. Speedo looks rather optimistic, I would say. Maybe the wrong drive box fitted. Cracking bike, though. I have a video on here of a ride on my 650. I've managed to get my speedo surprisingly accurate, for an old one . :-)
@spinouteu96276 жыл бұрын
Its in km/h and its showing around 95km/h in 4 gear. and according to my gps its off by +/- 2km/h.

wonderful to hear the "Q" cams come on the pipe again ! This was my favorite bike when I was in High School - One of the best handling motorcycles from the '60's. Have you been tempted to up-grade to the double leading shoe brake they added in '69?
@spinouteu96277 жыл бұрын
It has the 69 brake ;)
@roeng13687 жыл бұрын
The 69 on engines also didn't have a timing side bush supporting the crankshaft, they used a proper ball bearing from then on. Great engines, but i find the gearbox can be a weak link, jumping out of 2nd is a common fault.
