I've heard 'The Holy Grail' mentioned many times on this channel, but this time it's for real. Birth of Dual Sport

I remember the 1968 had a White gas tank, the 1969 had a gold tank, the 1970 a red tank. Correct me please if I am mistaken.

Saw this bike being unloaded on your video. That's gorgeous!! Out of my price range....plus I would feel like I'd be doing it a disservice by riding it regular. I LOVE HOW IT LOOKS & THAT SOUND IS AMAAAAZING!! Thanks Capt. Ken & Ken Jr!!!

That 1968 DT1 is a late 1968 DT1 Production year, this is one of the rarer ones of the 1968 DT1 variations. this has the 1969 to 71 tank mounting, the large rear upper engine mount and spacers than on the early 1968 DT1 with the early 8 mm spacers with the 8 mm bolt. I have a early 1968 DT1 and a mid year 1968 DT1. both have the bolt down clamp at the underside front of the tank and the early 1968 DT1-O2xxx has the 8 mm rear upper mount bolt and spacers and my mid year 1968 DT1-100xx had the larger 10 mm upper bolt and spacers. there was numerous running changes on these bikes over the production run. If I were you I would not sell this either. I am not parting with neither of my 1968 DT1s! there will be videos on my early 1968 DT1 on my channel here on YT pretty soon. such a great example of these historic bikes you have! these are among the hardest bikes to restore accurately due to the numerous 1 year only parts found on them and the running changes Yamaha made during the 1968 DT1 Model year run.

To me reliability is the number one asset you can have in either a car or motorcycle no one does that better than the Japanese those are facts not opinion

We had a 125cc version that looked almost identical to this bike. We had the 125 bored to 175 and several other upgrades, including a compression release. I loved that bike.

I had a Yellow DT1. I don't recall the year but it had to be around 1970. Lots of people had them as I remember. Not as fast as I was told, maybe 65 mph. But a great machine to learn to ride dirt with. Very fun on the trails and hills. By today's dirtbike standards, it wasn't very good. Like 4 inches of suspension. But at the time, we didn't know the difference, so it was OK. This one is a remarkable example of the bikes us early Yahama riders had. Wonderful to see it.

There was never a Yellow DT1, the 1970 AT1B was yellow though. It was a 125

@Shield Liger I happen to know quite a bit about Yamaha Enduros, (though no man knows everything) I would love to see a picture of your bike, and the VIN to prove me wrong. I have a Yamaha Enduro Appreciation group online with members from all over the world. The only year to my knowledge that had separate colors for different markets was 1968. The Japanese domestic market and Australia had a choice between the Pearl White (Same as the video) and Candy Orange with a black stripe (it actually looked gold to most folks) The AT1B is the only badge tank bike I'm aware of that was painted Competition Yellow.

I have one of these also luckily. Very original other than some Koni shocks, forkbrace , knobby on the rear and aftermarket front fender.....the only thing that looks different on the bike in this video is the black bezels on the gauges. The ones on mine are chrome. I never want to sell the bike for anything. Always kept inside and under a cover. It was bought new by my dad in 1968.
