Had a CA in 1972. Had a 4 speed box! Drove it with the doors open in the summer. ❤️

I used to work for a builder in early seventies. I used to drive his and take it home often. 3 speed column change box. Great in the summer with door open. Good workhorse too.

My Father who worked part time for GE Crowe butchers in Stepney Green, would borrow a Bedford mini bus from his employer. Although this was 60 years ago I still remember the trips out to Margate, with our family. Seeing this van has bought back all the happy memories of those times. I'll never forget Bedford vans. Thanks for sharing this one with us.👍

Had an early (1955) Dormobile model years ago. Slower than a horse and cart but lovely in the summer with the doors open. Never felt cold in winter with the engine cover caressing my left leg. When I bought it I discovered the world's oldest wireless set installed under the drivers seat!

As a teacher in 1973, I went to pick up a hired CA minibus to take the kids on a field trip. I had driven a few CAs before, so I was familiar with them, but this time I had a real problem. The minibus was parked up against a wall, and every time I put it in reverse it crept closer to the wall. After several attempts I gave up and went into the office to complain that there was something wrong with the gearbox, but it turned out it was one of the rare examples of a CA with a 4-speed box, and I’d been putting it in 1st instead of reverse. The CA did 0 - 60n in about 3 weeks, but it was a great van to drive.

My late father who was a truck driver for associated lead manufacturer in chester, they had two of these for light deliveries in particular north Wales, where road's were unsuitable for heavy trucks, travelled many miles in these as a boy with me dad, particular to Bala and Anglesey, delivering lead flashing and lead paint it was named magnet in them days later changed to timinox cracking little van, also used to be a local bakery down the road from where we lived ( Prices ) and they had three vans to deliver to small shops in Cheshire/North Wales and Shropshire, oh happy days, unfortunately long since gone.
