I remember them well, I am 60 now, they sat on dealer lots unsold, if you bought one you were laughed at, because of the ugly ill fitting nose, I heard some dealers put Charger fenders back on them, just so they could sell the cars. When you see one restored, they are stunning, but that`s not how they came from the specialty shop that slammed them together, so they could sell 500 of them so they could race them in Nascar. But with that said, I had a 1970 road runner, so I always liked the Superbird better, but what a find indeed, what a piece of history there.

@plymouthduster2252 жыл бұрын
Reason I asked was my 73 Duster had rallye wheels on it when I got it and I was told that it was all original but it shows to be a hubcap car from the factory just curious if maybe when it arrived the original owner decided that they liked the rallye wheels better and had a set put on at the dealership?

When today’s rarest muscle cars were new, they were ONLY made available for sale to buyers who owned barns. If you did not own a barn, you could not purchase these cars. That is why many of them are still found in barns to this day.. People that have barns don’t take care of their cars. Instead, they neglect them and let them deteriorate. They have better things to do than maintain their cars. That is why most cars found in barns are in rough, decaying condition.

You can not put back a burned and rusted car, the metal is totally destroyed, even with 10 layers of super epoxy, it will never get back the strength. Plus, its only 10% of the car left to begin with. So, to create a new car would mean, start with a 90% new body and put 10% of the original thin crispy crap into it. (lol) Even if the whole car would be there and lets assume it just burned down yesterday, its integrity after "only burning" will lose at least 50% of its former strenght. So noone should put such dangerous crap back on the road, this metal is only useful for an exhibition purpose. Im not here to disappoint or even offend anybody, this is just the simple truth.
