What a pleasant surprise to see this channel return! Welcome back. I like the new idea of showing what a close competitor would have been in the day. I was 16 years old and making $1.30 an hour pumping gas, washing windshields, and checking oil at a gas station in Chardon Ohio when those cars were new. Needless to say, they weren’t in my budget. With a 428 CJ, 4-speed, and 4.30 gear the Cougar would have been nearly unbeatable on the street. And with no exterior graphics whoever drove it would have shocked many an opponent.

I bought a '69 428 Torino CJ with the drag pack. Difference for my car was that the rear end was a 350, more like a NACAR number. When I took it to Germany, I was the king of the Autobahn.

Thanks, Kevin! What a beautiful Cougar. I always felt this brand and model deserved more attention that it received, as well as the Cyclone. For me, the real sell here for me is the that raised trim line that runs down the side... added an element of class to these cars.

Great car, but with 437 rear end gears it would be hard to just cruise on down the road. I had a ‘69 Plymouth GTX with the base 440, 375 hp and a 323 rear end. What fun!!!!! Luckily gas was pretty cheap back in the day.

The front end of those cougars is the car you didn't want to see coming up on your rear view mirror when you're at a stoplight and then get next to you you know you were going to have a challenge when the light turned green to beat it.

Hey hey!!!! I'm literally looking at buying a 1969 mercury cougar 351 Cleveland automatic (already basic research has told me that it should be a Windsor not a Cleveland along with a few other things that are a little disconcerning!?!?) Anyways, it's a friend of mine's vehicle who's sick and very old so I super don't want to grind them as I don't honestly think he knows as he's not really a car guy but at the same time I'm not exactly independently wealthy so anytime advice would be super helpful as I would really like to help my friend out and I also love these vehicles.. Thanks!!!!!!
