I had a 70 GP J Model with the same blue paint with a white vinyl top. The 400 engine would grab 140 MPH in a heartbeat!

My mom had a '69 in dark green. Matching wheels and a 400. Black interior. She used to pull out in traffic and get rubber in the first couple gears. We never wore seat belts! My dad got it up to 140 on the speedometer once and bent all the pushrods when releasing the accelerator pedal. The '69 and '70 were the best looking years. I loved riding in it.

I knew a guy from High School back in 1981, he rebuilt a 428 engine from a 69 Grand Prix in auto shop class. He put in a performance cam and a shift kit in rebuilt 400 trans....Holy Hell that think was a monster! He ran it about two weeks before he was chased by the police and totaled that beautiful car...what a shame. Every panel on that car was destroyed. He sold the engine / trans, and we beat what was left with hammers and chains for kicks! Gave it a good sendoff. It was Jade Green with black interior.

My first one was the copper color, no viynil top, black cockpit, it's a cockpit. Owned three over time. This blue one is Beautiful 😍

The J model for that year also had a 428 police special the car weighed a ton and being an automatic laid a 20-foot patch rubber on the asphalt hitting second gear shocking when I blew the doors off of a friend of mine 70 Trans Am haha that was a good day the look on his face was priceless

That car needs at least a 428. The 400 was jumpy and somewhat hesitated.

Those (headliner) belts referred to here are, in fact, shoulder belts. That Warwick Blue paint is stunning!
@bradparris994 ай бұрын
You are correct about the shoulder belts, however as hardly anyone wore them, they were "headliner" belts. Back in the day I was probably the only kid that actually wore both the lap and separate shoulder belts when I drove. It just seemed like a no-brainer to buckle up.

I had a Forest green 1970 about 35 years ago and I regret selling that car. I had to sell it in order to buy a 1973 Trans Am which I still own, but I'd rather have the GP today. The body panel gaps on my 1970 were perfect and that's the first thing I notice on these 69-70 models. Good eye on that, Aaron.
