Sadly Craftsman does not make their own tractors. It has been outsourced since the David Bradley days ended

No, these have a similar trans to what was used in Jacobsens and Massey Fergusons in the late 60s. The 1978 Hydrodrive shares a Dana GT20 rear end like the JD140 and closed frame 300 series like the 317
