Nijinsky and Lester Piggott were poetry in motion , the last Triple crown winner , he also won the Irish Derby as well as the King George , it was the manner in which he did it , the likes of Frankel were never asked those questions . 1:43

@@beverleymorris167 because Usain Bolt couldn't win a marathon doesn't mean he wasn't great. Frankel was never tested at Leger distance as it has become irrelevant to the modern breed, but nothing beat him at any distance he tried. Niijinsky was born is Canada at breeder E.P Taylor’s Windfields Farm in Oshawa, Ontario. Niijinsky was a son of the great Canadian Stallion Northern Dancer and mare Flaming Page, who in her 3 year old season came 2nd in the Kentucky Oaks and won the Queens Plate against the boys.. Niijinsky is a Canadian Legend, it’s too bad Canadians don’t realize how significant a horse he really was Internationally

I was lucky to see Blakeney at the National Stud when he was getting on in years. Before the american bloodline invasion, he was the last traditional uk bred to win the derby. He lost nothing in defeat here and gave a good account of himself having difficulty getting out (beat the others well) and Nijinsky got first run on him. I am NOT saying he was a match for the great Nijinsky or could of beaten him, but he battled well and deserved more credit than he gets....IMHO.

U beat who's in front of u & every superhorse has faced suspect opposition; and often times too much credit is given to rivals of legendary horses, particularly those who faced Frankel: many of them won Group / Grade 1's but none of them would have beaten NIJINSKY, or been Champions in other years, though CANFORD CLIFFS was a pretty good horse; keep in mind, NIJINSKY always won w/ something in reserve & he also went won @ 12 & 14 F, something Frankel never did in contrast to BRIGADIER GERARD, who stepped up from 10F & conquered 12F @ Ascot in follow - up to his previous dominance @ 8F Great hat u mentioned MILL REEF amongst the 3, because he's often left out of the discussion of "all - time" greats, perhaps because his 4 Yr. Old season & career was cut short; if u put all four on the same track it would be interesting
