@@TransamObsession they say if you listen to a varied selection of muscle cars it's easy to tell a Pontiac firebird trans am engine note from other V8 American engines

@@Tiffany.1970 it’s funny, when I bought this car last year, my Dad said it sounded so much better than the 71 Mach 1 I had previously, he said you can hear the difference in the Pontiacs firing order. Mine has the original Ram Air manifolds which in my opinion sound better than my first TA which had headers.

@@Tiffany.1970 I had headers and cherry bombs on my first Trans am, they sounded good and would always set car alarms off when I drove by parked cars😀😀 Not so nice on longer runs though. Prefer my current setup though, loud when you floor it but you can hold a conversation with your passenger when cruising👍

nice sound, 2 1/4 or 2 1/2" diameter pipes? What muffler did you fit?

Thanks Caspar, it is 2 1/2” inch exhaust throughout. Has the original from factory Ram Air manifolds, an H crossover pipe, and the original style transverse muffler in front of the fuel tank. The whole system is stainless steel👍

Think my factory 71 Formula 400 system was 2 1/4 and with the stock transverse crossover muffler it had a nice unique sound.
