I worked in the town centre or about 3 years in the early 1990s about 200 yards from the opening shot, and the place it was "on the turn" back then. I went back about a year ago to catch up with someone and it's just bloody awful now. That shot of the main shopping street is absolutely identical, but now it's just full of those cash exchangers, vape shops and fast food places , just like every shitty UK high street is now. It had two things going for it. Back in the 1990s there was a band from Harlow called "3D Echo", they were f**king superb, I used to go to The Square to see them whenever they played. The late, great Rik Mayall came from Harlow.

The old town hall was ugly, but a Harlow landmark too. My parents got married in St Christophers church in 1966. I went to the college in the mid 80's

How is Harlow's decline even related to Brexit? The decline began in the early 1990s and only got far worse when free movement turned a housing problem into a crisis. The closed shops are because of online shopping (with the smart phone anyone can shop online). Your comments has nothing to do with reality. Free movement has caused an enormous amount of problems with employers able to advertise most low skill jobs at the minimum wage.

@ don’t be naive mate… the English are bone idol and don’t want to work or graft…. And the daily mail and the sun brainwashed you 🤡 ‘s into thinking it’s everyone else’s fault… You English don’t like to work it’s simple… uber drivers and riders should be 90% English born and bred but you lot are lazy.

@@linuxpenguin5030since Brexit immigration has soared to record highs. Except now, instead of it being mostly culturally similar people from Europe, it’s now made up of people from Africa and the Middle East. There’s a good article in the Independent today that really illustrates the massive damage Brexit has done to our economy, all because people believed the lies of Farage.
