Rush were big but not THAT big. A quick google search puts Rush's total album sales around 40m wordlwide - including on their own website - that's nowhere near the top considering the likes of Floyd, Zeppelin, ACDC, Queen, Eagles and others have certified sales well over 100m. And there'll be a lot of other bands between 50-100 as well. Was it referring to Canada sales only, maybe?

@@VRPRocks Well Rush is indeed huge. But anyway that was in an article I'd read that was about why Rush hadn't yet, at that time, been inducted into the RnR HOF. And that was one of the reasons they should've been in. I should not have said "little known fact" but I did read that. You brought up a good point that maybe it was Canada sales. I remember buying my first CD player in 1987 at the Best Buy Co in St. Cloud, MN. At that store the #1 selling CD was Pink Floyd DSOTM (not world wide, just at THAT store) 14 years after it was released! The CD rejuvenated the sales of that album and many others from the 70s and early 80s. Just think how much more money in sales the CD brought to all of those bands from the 70s. *Earlier post edited

Deep Purple: Machine Head 9.04m, Heart: Little Queen 3.2m, Alice Cooper: Welcome to... 1.7m, BoC: Agents of Fortune 1.3m, Scorpions: Lovedrive 853k. “Crime of the Century” has only ever been certified by the RIAA as a gold album in the US(500,000 albums sold). Since it was Supertramp’s breakout album, you would think it sold more. The band did not set out to record a more commercial viable album when making “Breakfast in a America”; it just had themes that resonated with a wider audience. It is a certified quadruple platinum album in the US(4 million copies sold). It sold 3 million copies in France which as of today makes it the 4th best selling album of all time in that country. By early in the 1990’s, “Breakfast….” Sold 18 million copies worldwide; by 2010 it sold 20 million copies worldwide. It is very unusual for a album to sell like is. “BIA” just has universal themes that resonate with each new generation. I just wanted to give the reader the sales numbers. I am a big Supertramp fan but I am not going to argue the merits of “COTC and BIA” here. It is a waste of time.
