An AMC Ambassador was more family-oriented than this!!!
@usergonemad4 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmeliambro5117 Perhaps so, but would you create great memories from an AMC Ambassador, let alone a great short film featuring them? Probably not. IIRC, Mr. Regular featured one recently and stated that it had no redeeming qualities beyond scarcity to be found in good condition. Having lived in the day and age when they were still available new, I can honestly say that few of my own classmates grew up lusting to own one, and those who had them treated them as disposable transportation.

Such a nice, humble man and with such impeccable taste and attention to detail. Lovely Alfa Duetto too! And those lovely little scale models!
@carloduroni56293 жыл бұрын
"Duetto" is the name popularly given to all series of the Alfa Romeo Spider BUT it was officially used by Alfa Romeo only for the first year of the 1st series (the "boat-tail" one). The name "Duetto" came out of a national contest where people was invited to send in their suggestions. I remember myself (6 years old) sending my postcard (I must confess I don't remember what name I suggested). It's always been one of my dream cars.

Over 20 years ago, my brother bought a 1979 2000, left hand drive, in black. What a lovely car. Wish he hadn't sold it. There were rust issues on the sills, but nothing that couldn't have been sorted out, like the next owner did. Found memories of whizzing through his local country roads, top down and the sun shining, sometimes warm, sometimes not. Still fun.

I see where the passion of Petrolicious comes from! The original Duetto, the model that came before this was the car featured in The Graduate.
@MrDanty645 жыл бұрын
It ALWAYS kills me that the Graduate Duetto was only made for a handful of years before they cut the 'boat tail' off. WHY. Alfas are damn good cars, don't get me wrong, but of all the things to do to the design of a car. You want to guess what the economy could have looked like in Italy if they don't cut that tail off? !!!!!
@kezigore55585 жыл бұрын
@@MrDanty64 in 1967 the design did not get a good reception...also, the cut off tail was more aerodynamic, so higher speeds were available. Agree that the boat tail is the prettiest, both front and rear...in fact the original design in most models is...156, 166, early suds, early Alfetta GTV, early GTV Coupes...time shows the purity of the original design. I have a Series 2 Spider and am glad that it was still affordable to me...unlike the Duetto, but the S2 is actually more capable with bigger engine and limited slip diff etc.
@kezigore55585 жыл бұрын
mine is a 2000 Veloce, not a Junior...just to explain.
@MrDanty645 жыл бұрын
Kezi Gore Very well stated. The first part perks me; would like to hear more on that, especially since part of me says something like that would have connoted fun in a lot of people's eyes at the beginning of a new way of looking at things....I could go off but it would tie into how I am oriented towards the imagery of it and how it makes me cry out like I am about the fact its not around any more... More soon but the rest of this is very educational and would like to hear you expand on the first part.
@MrDanty645 жыл бұрын
@@kezigore5558 That first line...I want to follow up on this. That is actually fairly intense given that you would think the curvaceous ness of a boat tail like tmhat would have been more than de rigeur for 1965-67 and even nore so for a company like Alfa if they had a good thing going don't....
