This is really neat to see. The organizers came to our Highschool in Bessemer and asked if anyone wanted to help pack the outrun for the first event. I was the first volunteer and got out of school that day. I must confess I did more work on the top and schussed( probably an outdated term) the outrun most of the day. Although that was 1970 not 1972.

Visited Copper Peak every year when came to stay with my grandparents Waino and Lillian Suliin. Great memories. My grandpa probably attended this event. Used to hear stories of when the hill was operational

Brings back memories, I cant remember if this was the event that Tom Dargay won or maybe one of the Japanese, I think Okistsu Kono. I tried to see if I could see myself in the croud but, the film is pretty old. Ther next year A german named Hans George Aushenbach set the hill record with 113 meters I think. I was only 12 years old and I remember getting autographs from all the Fliers. I hope they get the hill back in shape so I can witness this great event once again.

Great video. Great ski jump. Especially the inrun-tower. The highest in the world. It was designed by the german Heini Klopfer. They try to reopen the jump.. They enlarged the landing slope. Greatings from germany.

Crazy that you could play soccer in the jumping boots of the day! I used them too for a few more years. Taller boots backs defintely stabilized the sport but made you change if you wanted to play soccer which we all did in parking lots mostly.

This winger! Plan I understand is to do a few days of test skiing. Ideally there will be summer jumping one day.

Sounds like the jump is going to re-open! no more snowmobile hill climbs.
