1972 - Old Hickory Mall in Jackson, Tennessee

This is "Old Hickory Mall" in 1972, years before they enclosed it. It was shot on "Super 8" film, then transferred to video by pointing a 1983 video camera at the screen, thus the quality isn't very good.

I was around nine years old when they enclosed it so remembered it well. It was a pretty exciting big deal when they enclosed it as malls were just becoming the big thing and Plazas were going out of style. It’s ironic now that has reversed. Malls are closing all over the country at an exponential rate and open air Plazas are now the big thing again.
