did you ever get the screws back in the door sill plate correctly?
@1957kwick8 жыл бұрын
I use small spring loaded pinch clamps to hold the weatherstripping in place works better than tape I have found.
@JohnDoe-go2fc9 жыл бұрын
The original rubber was a real tough one and this one is really flimsy it seems and very hard to stay put. I would like the see the wire type where it clinches to the door lips on the cab. It seems like it is so very soft like and might tear if bumped. Not sure yet how it will hold up.

Thanks for the video.....I've previously installed door weatherstripping in my 79, and watching this might've made my task easier. There's also some great tips in the comments as well. I'm curious though, as to why you chose to join each end on the backside of the door jamb, as opposed to the bottom center, under the sill plate?
@PrecisionReplacementParts6 жыл бұрын
The reason was that there's no pinchweld (at least on our truck) to put this on, so we had to flatten it out and glue it in that area. So for that reason it was better for us to move the seam to the backside.

Hey guys I bought a 1979 F-150 it has no weather stripping I've seen molded and weather strip kits. one has the shape of the doors and the other is like what your using in this video. As a woman i like to do my research because so many shops try to rip us off. so i educate myself first so i stand a better chance at being treated fairly in my opinion. That said......... What is the better or the 2 types of weather stripping for door seal. I'd appreciate some input from those who have used one or both types and what the differences are besides price I've already looked that up.

The part we show in this video is the correct style for this truck. It's a simple extrusion, no molds. You can find the part here: www.prp.com/product/detail/103491?keyword=dwp%202110%2073&sort=u.Name&paginationCount=24&type=All You can also call us if you need further help. 800-367-8241

I'm having the same problem after putting the new weatherstrip on for the door, it won't close all the way on the rear of the door. It "closes" and latches shut but there is a big gap between the door and the body. Weird

This is on the cab. Do you have a video for the weather-strip on the actual door? Not window but door.
@PrecisionReplacementParts9 жыл бұрын
+Kristen Albritton Sounds like you're talking about the upper door seal. We don't have a video on it. The seal should fit in a channel and is glued down with weatherstrip glue.
@jeremybennett55475 жыл бұрын
Wait there is suppose to be a piece of weatherstrip on the actual door?

What do I do if there is no bottom edge for the seal?
@PrecisionReplacementParts8 жыл бұрын
There is no lip so you need to open up the flap and glue that down. Although not really clear, you can see this at 5:40 mark. Hope that helps.

What type of adhesive is that or what type do you recommend?
@PrecisionReplacementParts8 жыл бұрын
+Cesar Leyva We always use 3M Weatherstrip adhesive part number 08008. There are other brands that probably work just as well though.

After I put the weatherstrip seal on. The door will not shut without slamming the door.
@PrecisionReplacementParts8 жыл бұрын
+Ray Yeager In some cases people may need to adjust their hinges and striker plate for a period of about 3 weeks to break the weatherstrip in. If this is our seal and have not improved in 4 weeks, give us a call. 800.367.8241

Door weather strips or seals do not meet half way up the posts. they will fill with water and leak in the car or truck. Joins are in the middle of the door entrance. Great Video otherwise
@researchandbuild17516 жыл бұрын
Ok all, I think I found the secret to installing the weatherstrip and allowing the door to close properly. The original OEM weatherstripping has little holes in it in the "outer tube" of the strip, if you look near the top front of the door jam. This allows air to escape when closing the door. Otherwise the weatherstrip will act like a balloon and fight the door. So, poke some holes in the outer "ring" of stripping. This wont be a problem nor let water in since the outer strip is a tube. Also, wipe down the weatherstrip with some silicone spray. After that the doors should close no problem

Wrap the striker pin with black tape til comes out the size of the old bushings, last couple pickups I've bought came that way!
@researchandbuild17512 жыл бұрын
@@aclark4144 I actually found some plastic pipe that was the correct size and just cut a slit in it so I could open it up enough to get it on to the striker. Works good. Some people say use PEX tubing
