Awesome Nova and great work getting her going again! I liked the information about the different GM key cylinders and how to remove them. Thanks.,

Well a couple people have said the background noise was loud and they couldn't hear the commentary. It's been hot here where I'm at 89 to 90 something degrees. On top of these damn mosquitoes. But I'm glad you didn't have a problem with it.

Those key cylinders come apart. You can remove, or change the wafers or simply rekey a blank to the existing wafers. I've also been able to get replacement keys at the dealer with the VIN number and proof of ownership. Another alternative that I actually prefer is to remove all but one wafer and this allows any key blank to be used, but keeps the key in place. Then again I leave my key in the vehicle and never risk losing it.

I don't think those are factory rims for a non-ss nova. Those door panels look to be in good shape. The backing is plastic and they are easy to break so be careful when you remove them. Unless you want to recover those bench seats, clean them with warm (dawn) soapy water and slather them with Vaseline/petroleum jelly and let it sit for a couple of weeks. This will rehydrate the vinyl and it won't start to crack when you sit on it.

I think the rims are Pontiac Ventura rims

You know the worst thing to do an engine that has been sitting for a long time is to start it. The oil needs to be circulated before starting and there are a couple of ways to do that. The engine in less than a couple thousand miles will throw bearings.
@camaroboi132 жыл бұрын
Oh well, it’s 140 bucks for a donor engine. Never “circulated oil” before starting a car. Drop some trans fluid, turn it over a few times, then fire it up. All my bearings lasted more than a couple thousand miles. Sorry you had bad luck with yours.
