Now Caleb, you know Jerry would investigate why the tuners were so tight and then lubricate them to at least make an attempt to make them as they should be. Young man, you are doing a great job with what you are doing so please don't start taking short cuts to finish a repair. You have been doing a fantastic job with your work in my opinion and I just want to see you continue to focus on completing a repair completely. Great work so far big guy, don't let all of us down by not doing a complete repair. Thanks for your videos, I appreciate them and will continue to see how you progress!

Saw your Western Auto Truetone guitar video from a year ago. When I was a teen, we lived in a small town in Mississippi with a Western Auto. My Mom bought me a Truetone solid body, double cut-away, red guitar. Didn't have an amp but I picked on that thing a couple of years. Never did learn to play it.Only knew G, C, and D chords from watching my brother strumming and singing but I tired of what I called "country chords" because that was what he played and sung. It wound up collecting dust. Wow. A guitar from Western Auto. 50 something years ago. If people knew what a Western Auto was, they would be going "WOW" themselves. Wish I had it now. Thanks for the memories.

Kindly, Caleb. I am encouraged by young luthiers. I am old, from a family of luthiers, with 50 years under my belt and many learning mistakes. Honestly, aside from my Gibson heritage, Guilds are some of the finest guitars made and should last generations. Kindly, When you score around the bridge with a scalpel, PLEASE NOTE Parallax Error and keep the scalpel at an unvarying 45 degree angle. SLOW DOWN, Patience means success. Do everything possible to NOT damage the grain fibers of the wood. You cut too deep. After you remove the bridge your sound-hole side should be a strait line. The Stew Mac bridge clamp does NOT locate the bridge as you say, The bridge is moving back and fourth at least 3/32nds of an inch. If it is a factory bridge from a high end guitar, take 10 minutes to cut locating pins Before you remove the bridge, and make notes of the factory intonation measurements and potential corrections. There are math tables for scales and tables in reference books. Never hand-sand the base of the saddle! Affix a piece of sandpaper to a machined plate of aluminum that is perfectly flat that may help straiten the top, or better fit sandpaper in the bridge location and sand the bridge to the shape of the guitar top. If the bracing is sound, the natural "bulging" of a solid top can drastically improve tone over time. Think "Violin" ! Professionally I suggest using a small scraper and a small violin plane. It looks like you are using Tightbond wood glue which is great for Kitchens and Bathrooms, but horribly inappropriate for fine stringed instruments. You never want to create a situation where your repair will be the last repair. If that was Tightbond, the bridge cannot be removed without destroying the top. I have made this mistake ona pre-war Martin d-18, and it is utterly heartbreaking. PLEASE know that the guitar may need repair in the future, and the next Luthier needs to be able to take the guitar apart, like a 400 year old Violin. I strongly suggest buying some good reference books. Lastly, What does ON and OFT mean? Kindly, from an old luthier "Before Intrweb" Never Assume that your Audience is unaware. Learn from other's. Respect.

I have a 2002 Guild D50-CE (made in Corona) that the bridge was lifting in exactly the same way this one was. Fortunately Guild (Fender?) agreed to have the dealer repair it under warranty.

Very nice job Caleb .One thing is you should start with a smaller bit first when you drill for the holes in the 12th fret and drill in reverse to help prevent chip out . Then continue with the larger bit .

Good job Caleb, keep up with the repairs, Jerry is retired from guitar repairs. One question, do you happen to have and extra Gurian fret file I could buy off of you. I guess they don't make them anymore. Hard to find. Cheers
