It seems there was always a Hells Angel just off camera during Garcia interviews.

It's good to see Jerry in some JGB footage, with John Kahn on Bass. And Jerry saying "The Hell's Angels are scary man, they're all big and strong and they are all good in the violent spaces. They've got that covered." A good summary of the Angels.

Great musician. I hope he gained a little more perspective later in life.

geez, im glad he stuck to music, he cant seem to see a volatile violent group for what they are or knows enough NOT to say anything...

Jerry couldn’t afford to slag off the angels...... you can’t just associate with them and be friendly and then just cut yourself off.... especially if you’re someone like JG

@@gerrymcguire7521 perhaps everyone is self deluded to a greater , of lesser degree. Here Jerry finds himself -uncomfortably being confronted about his own self delusion. To quote a famous philosopher- “one way to be fooled, is to refuse to believe : what is true. “.

He was asked odd questions so he can’t say something bad about them when he admitted he’s afraid of them. Would you want to be a target?

As a 50 year plus lover of the Grateful Dead, this is the only interview I’ve ever seen of Jerry where he is hoist on his own pitard. “ Bob Dylan- “don’t follow leaders watch the parking meters.” Jerry’s idolization of them must come from some complex part of his psyche- or in someway promoted the lifestyle that the Grateful Dead were trying to present themselves as. I having lived around the corner from there clubhouse in New York City, would wave to them when I went by the Motorcycle and they were congenial, but I would never fool myself as to what they were about to say one idolize them because they’re completely committed - is patently absurd. And sad. Jerry if you wanted to be an outsider, you could’ve been an outsider -to outsiders.

"We are all outlaws in the eyes of america".

Geraldo should not have described the Hell's Angels as "outlaws" (a word with romantic connotations). He should have described some of the violence committed by the Hells Angels against innocent people. Oh, well. This shows what a lousy "journalist" Geraldo Rivera was even way back then.

The clip in the beginning isn't Jerry with the Grateful Dead. It's some iteration of the Jerry Garcia band. Get your facts straight, Geraldo!
@JamesPercival1238 күн бұрын
He only made the Grateful Dead reference so the television audience could identify, it wasn’t a reference to JGB in the video . A little misleading …..Did I read somewhere that they dosed Geraldo at some point during this interview ? He showed up back at the TV studio without pants and shoes….😂
