8,305 actual miles! The tires are still the originals. It was in an Indianapolis collection for many years. These were only produced for 2 years: 772 made in 1974 and 2,134 in 1975. It was a 2 door sports car with safety as a high priority: SV-1 stands for Safety Vehicle 1. Features like a roll over structure, energy absorbing bumpers and no cigarette lighter (you should be focused on driving, not smoking). The most unique feature would be the power operated gullwing doors, never before offered on a production car.
EXTERIOR: It is a 2 seater sports car with gullwing doors and hidden headlights. The body is not damaged but they were not the best fitting or straightest cars when they were new. Many years ago this car was painted black. We have a 1981 registration and black is listed as the color. It shows very well with a glossy finish. The door function have been significantly improved. The original hydraulic system was upgraded with electric/Air system. It has it's original glass, the rear window has an electric defroster. The original American Racing alloy 15 inch wheels are in very good shape. It even has the original BFG tires!
INTERIOR: It is a very well preserved, unabused original interior. It is not worn, cracked, cut or altered. The dash pad looks mint. The entire instrument panel, gauges, vents, heater controls look real good. It has a leather wrapped wheel on a tilt column. It has it's original multiplex radio with digital clock, a pretty big deal in it's day. The carpet has bound edges and isn't worn. The shifter is on the floor in excellent condition, the console is excellent. The seats have original upholstery and they aren't worn either.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: They use the AMC 360 4-barrel V8 motor. The engine compartment is completely stock down to the original smog equipment is still hooked up. It has been cleaned up and detailed very nicely. It has the original air cleaner assembly with the 360 Bricklyn decal. The washer bottle is in tact, wiper motor still looks like new, fan shroud is not broken.

Very rare Jay. Regrettably, it doesn't make it a $100,000 car ! I could be mistaken but l think Mr. Bricklin was Canadian . I'm sure someone will be delighted with their purchase , particularly at the price. Thanks Jay

Scottsdale Arizona tried about four of these in the Scottsdale Police force in 1974, thinking they might be a good cop car. The gull wing doors took forever to open, (as just one issue) so the P. D. decided it was a no go. This was pre-air door modification. Malcom had a home here in Scottsdale...was the reason for the association with having the P. D. here give it a try. I used to play racquetball with his nephew when we were kids. I had for the longest time an orange piece of a fender that was recovered from a government crash test. These cars had horrible fit and finish in normal weather. In the Az. heat the panels would all warp so bad, even as brand new. First batch of cars came with an AMC 360 V8, and the rest were built with Ford 351’s.

FYI, the car had an acrylic colored panel backed by fiberglass. The VIN will decode the original color also. The seats have been recovered and are NOT original and I bet it has had the carpet replaced too. Over all a VERY nice example.

There's _'something'_ about the overall design of the Bricklin SV-1 that speaks to me, and from _my_ perspective, the gloss black laquer just helps _enhancing_ just that (sorry, but any of the original color options would just turn my stomach!) . . . Definitely a 'conversation piece'! 👌

Aftermarket seats and some sort of custom console. Replacement carpet. From the under carriage photos possibly a green car originally. Engine compartment looks good and has the air pump.

it looks super cool and the pait looks great, but it is a little bit of a shame that it got painted. I think one of the coolest parts of this car was that the body panels were impregnated with the color and there wasn't any painting. Wonder what it looks like under that paint!

Jeff Dunham owns one and he featured it on Jay Leno. The originals were not painted. The body was a composit that was the actual color of the car. Bricklin had ,,,,,for one of his motors ,,,,,a Ford 351 Windsor two barrell carb. Dunham had a four barrell carb added to his. The pop up headlights were not real good. Dunham had a mechanic work with his and got them somewhat operable. They didn't come up simultaneously and had to be modified to even close. The doors weighed 100 lbs each. The original mechanism to open and close the doors was faulty from the factory. Dunham had it modified as well to be more operable. The wing door were notorious for leaking as well. Not good. Dunham had a new A/C system installed as well because the original was not to his satisfaction. Lighter, more functional, less strain on the motor. Dunham was overall pleased with his car even though it was basically a Ford "Edsel". He knew it was filled with flaws when he bought it but still wanted it because its a rare car. If you have money, like Jeff and Jay, these would be nice cars for a collector.

Like crap. Doc put all that exterior hardware, because he was working with 20th century tech. For a guy who traveled to the future, he only updated the fuel system?! I am sure that he could have found technology small enough to hide all that exterior harware. Just think, we have laptops today, that rival or surpass the first computers of old; like the UNIVAC computer.

That thing is rare as hell but who wants a fugly thing made out of fiberglass and resin with fit and finish issues worse than the best Tesla. I don't build cars but I can see that I might be able to make better, sturdier panels out of cardboard and fiberglass resin. And that 10 mph safety bumper in front makes it look like the nose doesn't fit the car. Almost as fugly as the Pontiac Aztec, that's saying something.

Too bad it was painted. The original was either orange, green, red, gold or white - it was ruined with paint. and the seats were redone with something odd as well. Oh well - a nice driver. And this is NOT an American car - built in Canada
