1974 Chevy Camaro Z/28 - I know a lot of you wanted to see the car better in the other videos, so as soon as I got it rinsed off the other day, I unloaded the car and shot this video! We’ll take a good look at the car in this video plus dig through the boxes of NOS parts that came with it. There wasn’t a lot of NOS, but anything is better than none! I know these aren’t the favorite year of Camaro for a lot of people, but they are for me. I had a 69 Z/28 that I sold last year and I like this car a lot more! Like I talked about in the last video, I was born two months after this car was built, but, there’s another story I have about 74’s. One of those that sticks with you for decades about a certain car from when you were a kid! That story is another reason why I’ve always wanted a 1974 Z/28! I’ll get to that story in this video as well!!! That car was a little different than this one, but this is such a great car, that it fits the bill for me!! I have been able to check a few of the numbers that I could get to and so far, everything has been correct, even the carb is original! The floors look perfect on the bottom side! The car is now tucked away in a corner of my shop until I have time to do something with it, but so far I’m really excited about it!! If you liked the video, please subscribe to my channel! If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos! As always, if you have questions about vehicles or parts, the only way to get a hold of me is to call me, no texts. Thanks for watching, Chad. 620-786-4428

Thanks for the upload. Awesome 74 you own. I agree the 74 Camaro was unique. It had its own style and readily identifiable from other gen 2 Camaro’s. The 74 is my personal favorite Z/28 Camaro. I owned a 74 Z/28 4 speed I was the second owner and I sold it in 84. To this day I regret selling it. Enjoy your car and have a blast restoring it.

Hey brother have a story from the past you might enjoy and learn what I did. I began working on cars at age of 12. My cousin who was 13 years older had a shop in the Bronx. I was swinging starters in full size cars, it was hard and heavy but I was eager to learn. He gave me my first car at age 14, 1965 Cutlass F/85 Coupe with 330 V8 with power gluide. Was white with red buckets and console. A lot of chome those days. Had chrome reverse rims(old). One of the best cars I ever owned. So to say the least I was/am a car nut,Motörhead etc. in 81 I was 19 left the community college on LI NY. My aunt was a big shot for ITT 320 Park Ave NYC. She got me a job there in the mailroom. I worker there for a few years before becoming a NY cop. While working in mailroom I met a guy Mike. He was a couple years older and seniority in mailroom. The first month I worked there my car then(70 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed triple black) mint mint mint had new black lacquer paint was stolen. At work I was on phone with insurance and Mike told me to hang up phone(maybe jealous of my aunt) I ignored him then bull rushed him and held him down. Well after that we were hanging out at lunch, evening, weekends etc. became friends and we are still friends to this day. I helped him to become a NY cop. Well karma hit him(not from me) and his mint 73 Monte Carlo was riding over the Koskiosko Bridge (narrow) from Brooklyn to the city and he hit a steel piling and totaled his Monte, no injuries. His father knew a lot of people(gotta names) and they found him this 1974 Camaro Z28. It needed paint dents scratches so car was in shop for a while. He showed me pics and when I saw the Z28 Decals( I think on trunk too) I laughed at him and didn’t believe Chevy made decals for a real Z. Well the car was completed and looked mint. I never really saw it as a Z28. After Chevelle was stolen I bought a 72 Lemans Coupe, with the power train from same sellers frame rotted 65 GTO. So my 72 Lemans with 389 Tri power, power glide trans, with GTO console. Best 400 bucks ever spent. Well Mike and I raced and I pulled away from him. He reminded me years later of that and the time I puked and some got inside the seat belt mechanism. (Sorry). Anyway sorry for long talk, I’m a lonely old man and hard to stop when I get rolling. So one day a year or so later Mike called me and said he car wouldn’t shift from 1st gear, or if it did it slammed hard into 2nd. Now this car was an untouched original car. I believe it only had 50 or 60 K and was owned by a housewife. Mike or mechanic had added a shift kit. I diagnosed the problem as a failed trans fluid cooling coil in radiator. Trans fluid was chocolate/straw milk. I removed radiator.( back in those days (1982/83) there was a tremendous amount of junk yards. There was no eBay or auto zone, there was auto barn or who you know) Well here’s one thing to know I spent 2 days searching everywhere for the same or similar radiator. The radiator shop had a 3 week backlog. The problem was that IT WAS A REAL Z28! It was a real oddball where many weren’t produced. It was a 3 Core. I heard of single or 2 or 4 but never 3. His father ended up bringing it to Jersey to have coil repaired and I flushed and reinstalled it. Apologize for such a long carried away answer. Another thing that I remember along with the dual snorkel breather and the aluminum vented valve covers was that the engine a 350(may of had the turbo 400) The engine if I’m right was a factory solid lifter engine. Let me know if any were produced. 1974 the HP and emissions choked most cars so I’m not sure. So some advice from 42 years ago either have the trans coil cooler replaced, or bypass it with these new external coolers. And save that radiator lol. Take pics and measurments just in case. I’m sure there’s only a handful left somewhere and not to many of that 74 Z28. Wish you the best with the car and forgive any typos or nonsense words. I didn’t spellcheck. Peace. Andy

Very Nice Z-28 find. I would strip it down and rotisserie restoration, using new hi-tech suspension parts, springs, rear end, Etc....My favorite is a 1970 RS Z-28 package: citrus lime green, black stripes, Black Spoiler in front, tan interior. Beautiful car!

It’s your car and your choice, but my opinion is to leave it original with the badges. If I owned it I might add white or black oem style ralley stripes. I did think the rear badge would be in the middle of the spoiler. I’m surprised to see where it is. I don’t know why they did foil on the back. Keep us updated as you fix it up.

I have a 1974 Z/28 with the stripe delete as well. The correct badging for your car is the fender emblems you have, the foil Z/28 decal under the Camaro emblem on the tail panel you have. The one you are missing is the front grill Z/28 emblem placed driver side just as they were in 1970 - 1973. I personally think the 1974 hood and trunk triple stripe call-out is too much.

The 74 Z28 never had a Z/28 or Z28 emblem on the driver side front grill.

Don't really see the point of this video, as it's mostly just a re-hash of the previous one, with the exception of showing a few of the new parts.
