I just emptied 2,202 pennies in a Coinstar machine. Over and over it kept spitting out two pennies. I brought them home and looked at them and they're both 1974 D, which brought me to this video. Now I guess I need a really accurate scale.

Love the info, good topic. I would look into a different mat, a plain black mouse pad works very well. This will help with lighting in low end cameras. I would look at upgrading your camera and/or look at the lighting....seemed a bit washed out (maybe the color green of the mat played into that too). Another to think about, coin collectors tend to cringe when coins are handled bare handed...I am sure these are not $1000 coins...but give the feel of something of value is being shown. Using gloves could give the feel of a unspoken respect to a coin, plus, when close up on someone else hand isn't always appealing to others (not that yours were gross, just not something appealing). Last thing, think about putting coins on a small platform or something....makes it more eye appealing when moving things in/off camera. Nature doesn't create straight lines and when you do that (using small case, etc)...it is more appeal. Hope that is helpful to you.

I work at a store in an old gold mine town and just had a weird penny come through my check stand so instead of giving it away traded a penny for it and think this is it. It has a really strange texture and color. Not a normal penny.

If it is a 1943 penny it is called the steel cent and is zinc coated. If it is a 1974 penny ,it might be aluminium. I have heard that they are illegal to have . But no one as far as I know ever got in trouble over it.

In mint condition, an uncirculated copper one can be worth about $9. But if you found it in your pocket change that means it is worth $0.01 unless it is aluminum.

It should of said one of a kind. Oh I forgot to mention that on this penny liberty is spelled luberty. On it. And the the date is 1979, but the 7 is over the top of the date 1989. And the s is on top of the d mint mark clearly seen on both without magnevaction
