We bought our 1974 Dodge Travco motorhome in October 2021 from the original owner! We spent 3 months and thousands of dollars renovating it and getting the mechanics/engine perfected! In this vid, Amy takes you through the inside (and gives van life tips) and Jay takes you on a outside-the-van-tour!

Would you mind to share the numbers? How much is it to insure it? What is the gas mileage? How much do you spend on the gas for the generator?

That's a Travco 220. Pretty rare, but they aren't a van. They are on a medium duty truck/bus frame. At sometime, somebody gutted the interior- the factory cabinets were like ones on a boat. They have a latch, activated by a push button in the center- weird thing? You would also have a hidden "Hide-y hole" under/behind the sink in the bathroom if stock. AC? You're in the desert, but on the coast. Cool breezes. In Death Valley or such..? Not so much and you'll be hating life. Looks like the rims are not stock, maybe axle swaps? Best conversion for powertrain ? 6BT Cummins 12-valve, P-pump and an Allison overdrive transmission. Bonus? You can hook a diesel generator that will do 6.5kw and be able to efficiently power up all your electrical needs. The original ones supplied were Onan units, made by Cummins. Judging how modified your was when you got it, God only knows...imagine it was a lot of fixing. BTW, Jay sounds like a Seattlite and Amy sounds Cannuck. I'm veeeery familiar with both areas

@@AmyTimmerman1 good- that's the important part. Hope you two didn't take it as arrogance or being "Talked down to." Mine came from my uncle, who ordered it new in '75, arrived at Lynnwood Dodge (Seattle area, now defunct) in '76 and went to Alaska for the next 27-28 years. One thing I hate about old Mopars & change. The electrical system is jenky. If you haven't, behind the instrument cluster is a voltage regulator. Throw it in the trash ASAP- the old one is nothing more than a bi-metal winding & arm set up. When it goes, the voltage goes full-on into the cluster. Burns up the guages and sometimes the vehicle. Real Time Engineering makes an electronic version which is much more accurate and a lot less "Fire-prone." 2nd "Good move" if you're still running the 440/727 Loadflite powertrain. AR Engineering makes a bracket & plug to fit a Nippondenso alternator from a Forerunner. In the old Chrysler Indy "Fat boy" alternators, the have low output at idle and when they fail can go "Full field" as well. The "Toyota solution" is way easier to replace, better output, and doesn't have the same danger to it. Last thing- Safe T Plus makes a steering stabilizer. If you get a steer tire blow out, their unit helps keep you in control. I may come off as a know-it-all or smart ass, which I am not, but I do know Travcos & old Mopars pretty well.

@@olikat8 Thanks for the heads-up about the the alt kit from AR. My bulkhead connector was had gotten hot and started to melt. Being a Mopar guy that was one of the first things I checked. Did the bypass and installed a voltmeter but would like to do the Toyota alt conversion. Do you know if the Toyota alt can be had with dual pulleys since I have A/C on my engine and it runs dual belts.
