well fyi, some c6 transmission use type "f" i have a 79 Bronco my uses "esp-m2c138-cj" which is dex/merc don't use the wrong kind look on dipstick or owners manual all amd all great video

Thanks for this video. I didn't knew about that inspection plate, it has two 1/2" bolts for anyone interested. I just went under my truck (f150 82 C6 with 300 engine), took the inspection plate apart to see if the trans is leaking from inside and went further just to find out my vacuum modulator is bad (made a mess of trans fluid when i pulled the hose). Well, at least the converter part inside that plate (where lies the flywheel, TC and trans pump?) is pretty dry so i'm glad i have no leaks from the converter or pump. There is engine oil around so after a good visual inspection i suspect the leak comes from the rear crankshaft seal; that's gonna be fun lol. About the oil, you can use Dexron III/Mercon V. Anyway, thanks again, i learned something new.

It does say on the dipstick what fluid to use, however, keep in mind on 1977, Ford resigned the C6 and it specified a new type fluid, Type CJ, which is discontinued, but it's similar to Dex3/mercon,. Or straight first version mercon Which is superceded by mercon V (mercon 5)

I remember reading about all then when looking up what fluid to use. Honestly sometimes as I’m recording and thinking of what to include and how I want it to flow I forget here and there but I agree I’ve checked that dipstick before. Thank you for watching

Put flat washers under pan bolts

How much antifreeze want in the torque converter? Is it really worth draining it,?

You mean ATF? I would say it depends. If it’s a new to you truck? or you don’t know when it’s been done then yes. Would be just good general maintenance to ensure everything runs well.

The transmission wouldn’t want to shift out of 2nd to 3rd. Mind you I was just driving in my neighborhood but I figured out the issue which I believe there’s some damage to the transmission. There’s a crack in the front of the case and the truck hit something so I’m thinking there is damage because it’s very difficult to find Drive. It shifts but I plan on swapping to a 4 speed so when I do I want to open up the C6 and see what’s going on
