Way too good to part out! Wouldn't take much to make a sweet truck especially being a super cab.

It's surprising how many people will just park a vehicle for stupid reasons and let them rot away in a field. I've also had good success with points ignition. Either OEM factory ignition systems or points have been good to me. I have spent a lot of money on aftermarket ignition systems over the years and sent them back or had them fail. Blue streak points, condenser, coil, cap and rotor, sparkplug wires are some of the only parts I've bought I've had a 100% success rate with. Some people get all bent out of shape having to service points once in a blue moon for some reason. I can set dual points pretty damn quick with a dwell meter, remote starter switch and a screwdriver on a Ford distributor. Another reason why people cuss at them is the new points sometimes have the spring tension set way on the strong side out of the box and that will cause short rubbing block life. I have a points spring tension gauge and found 17-18 OZ spring tension @ .020" gap to be just fine to 6000 RPM on a 390 and that set of points has been in there almost 2 years now and only readjusted them once after 100 miles to let the rubbing blocks wear in flat and they haven't changed the dwell reading since. Yeah, works fine for me lol.

So many different reasons why stuff gets parked. Our highboy got parked for a few years, did not have the time or ambition. Have only recently started fooling with points. prefer them over a computer brain box. Thank you for the feedback.

@@southernrevivalautomotive Yeah my dad had an 87 Mazda pickup he bought brand new and about 2014 it started having issues stalling. Wound up being a bad ICM in the distributor but we kept getting bad ICM's out of the box that wouldn't work so the truck sat for about 4-5 years but we still washed it regularly and tried to keep it up. Finally fixed it and sold it so it didn't sit around anymore. It only had 47000 miles when we sold it.

That’s too bad on the ICM. Have had similar situations. I try my best to get everything from O’Reillys now or OEM if it’s not far off on price.

@@southernrevivalautomotive There were a whole bad batch of ICM's for that thing across the board. One of them caused a backfire while cranking and took out the starter and busted a tooth off the flex plate which was like trying to find a three eyed unicorn and not available anywhere. Finally got an ICM that worked and put a new starter in it and figured welp it's time to sell this thing.

It’s going to be a 1975 model year because that the first year for a super cab even though production began in early 1974.
@southernrevivalautomotive
@southernrevivalautomotive 7 ай бұрын
Makes sense. Not too familiar with production on certain years. Build date on B pillar was 6/1974’. Must be a very early built 75’. Some newer stuff June counts as the following year.
