This is my Honda CR125 Elsinore ride along video for 2023 Indiantown race. We haven't had any rain in the area for three months and I wanted to get a really good start before we got into the tight and dusty singletrack woods. Of course, since I was running the video, I messed up my start and had to kick the bike three times to get the motor running. There must have been an epidemic of bad starts that day because I luckily ended up in third trailing two post-vintage Kawasaki's which gave me fits to pass. The track featured wide open straights that hid deep holes and firebreak ditch crossings. These obstacles really jarred the rider when they were hit at high speed. I ended up bending the pins in my foot pegs and cracking the frame and the pegs were sagging down at the finish. All the racers were definitely riding slower at the end than the beginning. The heat and the dust and the whoops really sapped their energy. It also sapped your brain power. I knew I was close on fuel but figured I had conserved enough gas while riding slower in the dusty areas. On the last lap, I had about a three-minute lead and ran completely out of gas about a mile from the finish. By the time I was able to get someone to give me a few ounces of fuel, my friend Kevin caught and passed me on his Yamaha 360 and got the win again. I'm trying to keep the videos a reasonable length and the video ends where I went back onto the racetrack instead of pulling into the pit lane for a splash of gas. Fortunately, my GoPro camera battery was dead before you got to see me pushing my bike like a mad man up to some of the track crew. I was hoping they could get me going before Kevin sped on by.
